Performance after failover
Hey, all. I'm currently trying out GlusterFS 3.3. I've got two servers and four clients, all on separate boxes. I've got a Distributed-Replicated volume with 4 bricks, two from each server, and I'm using the FUSE client. I was trying out failover, currently testing for reads. I was reading a big file, using iftop to see which server was actually being read from. I put up an

How to evaluate the glusterfs performance with small file workload?
Hi guys I have met some troubles when I want to evaluate the glusterfs performance with small file workload. 1: What kind of benchmark should I use to test the small file operation ? As we all know, we can use iozone tools to test the large file operation, while for the sake of memory cache, if we testing small file operation with iozone, the result will not correct.

GlusterFS performance
Hello! I have GlusterFS installation with parameters: - 4 servers, connected by 1Gbit/s network (760-800 Mbit/s by iperf) - Distributed-replicated volume with 4 bricks and 2x4 redundancy formula. - Replicated volume with 2 bricks and 2x2 formula. I found some trouble: if I try to copy huge amount of files (94000 files, 3Gb size), this process takes terribly long time (from 20 to 40 minutes). I

Debian repo and i386 builds
Hello! Why Debian repo is so strange? Path to a repo should not contain version and subversion numbers. Now you can't receive and even check updates automatically. It's very-very simple to create correct repo. You can even add to it all versions of packages, if it is important. And where is i386 builds? Could anybody create a correct Debian repo for gluster from existing one?

Gluster on ZFS: cannot open empty files
Hi everyone, I've got glusterfs-server/glusterfs-client version 3.4.0final-ubuntu1~precise1 (from the semiosis PPA) running on Ubuntu 13.04. I'm trying to share ZFS (ZFS on Linux 0.6.2-1~precise from the zfs-stable PPA) using GlusterFS. When creating the ZFS filesystem and the Gluster volume, I accepted all the defaults and then: - I enabled deduplication for the ZFS filesystem (zfs set

Problems running dbench on 3.3
To test gluster's behavior under heavy load, I'm currently doing this on two machines sharing a common /mnt/gfs gluster mount: ssh bal-6.example.com apt-get install dbench && dbench 6 -t 60 -D /mnt/gfs ssh bal-7.example.com apt-get install dbench && dbench 6 -t 60 -D /mnt/gfs One of the processes usually dies pretty quickly like this: [608] open

Debian repositories only for amd64
Hi, Is there any particular reason why the Debian repositories (at http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/LATEST/Debian/ ) only have packages for amd64? I don't mean to pressure for more convenience; I'm just wondering if there's any reason to avoid using it on i386.

Geo-replication broken in 3.4 alpha2?
Dear all, I'm running GlusterFS 3.4 alpha2 together with oVirt 3.2. This is solely a test system and it doesn't have much data or anything important in it. Currently it has only 2 VM's running and disk usage is around 15 GB. I have been trying to set up a geo-replication for disaster recovery testing. For geo-replication I did following: All machines are running CentOS 6.4 and using

Running as non-root
Hello. I would like to run asterisk as an user other than root. I have seen some tutorials on the web, but I would like to know if there is some ?official? how-to for this. Is there? I looked at a thread on reviewboard regarding this (https://reviewboard.asterisk.org/r/654/). It was Paul Belangers work trying to make the installation process take care of this. But the conclusion seem to
