Migration from 3.5.6-27 to 3.6.16-31
Hello, I have a debian etch with (samba 3.5.6-27,) shares and windows 7 in the domain. This works ok. Since i installed the new version 3.6.16-31 I can not login with domain users in my windows client and the shares are inaccessible. I solved the problem with the login, removing the following line in my smb.conf: *ldapsam:trusted = yes* but why this line works with the version 3.5.6-27 and not

Upgrade from 4.0.0 to 4.0.3 creates unfixable errors with dbcheck
Hello, Today I tried to upgrade from samba 4.0.0 to 4.0.3 on my test environment. I patched the source with the diffs patch-4.0.0-4.0.1.diffs, patch-4.0.1-4.0.2.diffs, patch-4.0.2-4.0.3.diffs , then make, make install. # samba-tool dbcheck Checking 807 objects Not fixing nTSecurityDescriptor on CN=Performance Monitor Users,CN=Builtin,DC=inview,DC=local <--- all errors were

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
Hello, We have a Windows 2008 DC (inview-dc1 and a samba 4.4.16 (inview-dc2) server as a backup DC. The system for the most-part works OK, but occasionally the Samba DC goes wildly out of sync (with respect to group membership), normally after a change to a large group. I have noted previously before the out-of-sync event occurs, this command always fails thus : root at inview-dc2:~#

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
Thanks Garming. We currently use a standalone bind DNS server. Will the later version of samba work without the integrated DNS backend? WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
Hi, Many of these syncing problems were solved in Samba 4.7 (and probably a few more in 4.8). There were a number of unresolved locking issues that we uncovered as well as some inconsistencies with Windows replication. I would try join a DC with one of the latest Samba versions and see if your problems persist. Cheers, Garming On 21/06/18 21:35, Chris Lewis via samba wrote: > Hello, >

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
What does the WERR_BAD_NET_RESP means? I'm currently upgrading our DCs to 4.8.3 and I've noticed that the off-site DC has a sync problem of the CN=Configuration NC. The FSMO DC is still in the 4.5.5, but all other DCs, including the off-site are already on 4.8.3. Trying to sync the off-site DC with one of the updated DCs does not work either. The WERR_BAD_NET_RESP message already

Win7/W2K8 R2 sp1
After upgrading Win7 and W2K8 R2 clients to service pack 1 it is no longer possible to log in to domain(before the upgrade the clients can log in into domain). Clean installation of Win7/W2K8 R2 with integrated sp1 has the same effect. Our domain PDC is running on samba 3.3.7. I'm curious if anyone else has seen this already. Thank you Mikhail Zuskov

Domain login delays w2k8 R2
Hello! We have a w2k8 R2 64-bit machine in a Samba 3.4.4 controlled domain. When logging in as a domain user there is a ~30 sec delay waiting for the User Profile Service. This has nothing to do with the size of the user profile. Looking at the network traffic I can see 2 gaps, the first about 11 sek and the second about 19 sek with no packets sent except one TCP ACK (from the client) in each

compress raw image
Hi, I need to transfer a local raw image to another datacenter. Is there a way to achieve good compression of this image, I heard of tools overwriting unused space with zeros. Is this a good idea? It's an W2k8 image/NTFS. Thx Rainer

samba to act as bdc for w2k8 AD?
Hello everybody, could samba (version 3 or 4) act as a "bdc" for an w2k8/r2 AD? There's one external office with a few users only, and there will be a samba-based system for file-storage - so if that system could also do the user-authentication for all users there it'd be nearly perfect ... Have a nice weekend! Torsten

question about CIFS client glitches
Hello, Trying out a CIFS mount of a W2K8 x64 file system from CentOS 5.5 and running into problems, and trying to figure out how to proceed. I mount up the Windows share, then run a script that expands about ten TAR format archives containing a couple of hundred files with the 'pax' utility. Then it removes about two dozen files. The script is a primitive source-code version

Samba4 AC DC Ready! But "W2k8 R2" doesn't join...
Hey guys! This is my first message to this list... I'm must say that I'm very impressed with Samba4! It is an amazing project! Nice job!! Last time I used Samba was back in 1998~2000... But, I got a new job that is forcing me to remove 3 Windows Servers with AD, by Samba4. So, I just deployed Samba4 on top of Ubuntu 14.04, it have Bind9, IPv6, a Secondary DC with replication, everything

3.6/SMB2.0 and NT6.0 (Vista/W2K8 not-R2) question
Hello Samba Team, Have a W2K8 not-R2 (NT6.0) server that compiles code served from a CentOS 5.6 server running Samba 3.5.5 over an Infiniband link. Works nice but an 'imake' step that grinds through every source file several times takes ten-to-twenty times longer than when it runs locally on the Linux side. It's apparent that the entire source tree is cached in memory by Linux, but
