Volume changing à la MP3Gain?
Hullo,
There's a program called mp3gain which can be used to alter the volume
of an MP3 file in 1.5 dB steps. I once heard somewhere (I can't
remember *where*, but I swear) that something similar is possible with
Vorbis files, but in approximately 2.2 dB steps.
Is this true, or is my memory at fault? If it's possible to change the
volume of a Vorbis 1.0 file, could someone please

Vorbis comment support in WMP
Hullo,
http://wmptagext.sourceforge.net/
This program claims to add APEv2 tagging support for various formats
to Windows Media Player. Its Vorbis support is incomplete (it adds
APEv2 to .ogg files!) but I hope the media library functionality can
be integrated with Illiminable's DirectShow filters.
I haven't really tried it yet. YMMV.

Hi,
Hi, thank you for closing ticket 543, "vorbiscomment man page not
exhaustive". :)
https://trac.xiph.org/ticket/543
If it's not too much of a burden, could you also apply this patch,
please? It's pretty straight-forward. Thank you. :)
Cheers,

Some comments on the Vorbis FAQ
Hi,
http://www.vorbis.com/faq/#mean points to
http://www.xiph.org/xiphname.html, which is dead. The actual content
is at http://www.xiph.org/xiphname.shtml
The Xiph names page seems to be in UTF-8, but its meta tag mentions
ISO 8859-15, which can cause problems with raw characters for the
pronunciations.
I propose the use of the International Phonetic Alphabet. How about

Firefox plugin to auto convert audio files into Ogg
per > http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=63653
The above thread on the Fedora Forums about a script that can
automatically convert one audio format to another got me thinking >
wouldn't it be fantastic to be able to right click on an MP3 (or other
audio file) while in Firefox, and automatically have the file
converted into Ogg at the same time as the file is being saved

Theora file extension
Theora and Vorbis both uses same extension .ogg. I know ogg is a
container, just like avi. But in my opinion video and audio files should
have different extensions (using .ogv can be a nice idea).
To a media player it doesn't matter what extension a file uses, but to a
human who does a ls in a directory full of media files having different
extensions will help a lot. I know one can use file

patches for xiph build setup
Hi,
I offered some time ago to do some build cleanup. Today I did so and
here's my slew of patches.
Basically, they
- touch ogg, vorbis, vorbis-tools and theora
- fix a bunch of autotools issues
- uniformize the use of them across the four
- fix compile/link flags
- use pkgconfig if it's available to detect flags
- for vorbis-tools, generate and use config.h
- add -uninstalled .pc stuff

Compiling CVS? (automake/autoconf problem with autogen.sh?)
I've eagerly grabbed the current CVS as of a few minutes ago, and attempted to
build and play with theora, but am running into a snag with the autogen.sh
script:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
bash-2.05# ./autogen.sh
I am going to run ./configure with no arguments - if you wish
to pass any to it, please specify them on the ./autogen.sh command line.

[LLVMdev] Compiling poolalloc
I currently have a slightly modified llvm-2.0 source tree (from the
release tarball). I checked out poolalloc into the projects directory
and attempt to configure it, but I keep getting errors. I would
understand if there were problems building it (since it may require a
different version of llvm), but it should at least configure.
Specifically, I've tried the following commands:

[LLVMdev] Removing $(LLVM_SRC_ROOT)/autoconf dependensies in Stacker, llvm-java [PATCH]
Personally, I don't think LLVM projects should need much in the way of
autoconf stuff. They certainly don't need to replicate things like
install-sh and mkinstalldirs. I'd vote for taking these out of the
projects rather than making the makefiles deal with them. I think in
most cases these are just historical artifacts that have been with the
projects since long before the new
