extract/encode a part of a ogg track
Hi every body , ( Please forgive my dumb poor english ) I got many tracks in ogg/vorbis format . I would like to make a "preview" of them . I mean : I have a track : foo.ogg ( wich is 3:00 minutes long ) i want to have : preview_foo.ogg ( wich is foo.ogg but from 1:00 -> 1:15 ) I read man oggdec , man ogg123 , man oggenc but i did not see what suits me . I use zsh shell , on a

here's the test case, possible solution
Hello all, Finally I succeeded in uploading the test case I promised. It's at http://home.wanadoo.nl/segher/test1.wav.bz2 (It is a wav, the headers are a bit inconsistent, but encoder_example will be ok with it, as it just skips them). I did some thinking, and a possible solution is decreasing the ATH_Bark_dB[] for the lower frequencies. As the comments say, it's not really an ATH, but

AW: Ogg Vorbis and DirectSound streaming
BTW: You can pass also the float32 data directly to DirectSound instead of doing the conversion (float32->int16) yourself. Hardware Vorbis
There is a 'feeling' on the opencores list that an audio decoder is desired. (MP3 gets mentioned occasionally, but has its patent problems etc...) http://www.opencores.org/ no audio projects are underway yet and I think a vorbis decoder will take a while but even if only a start is made then others may add to it. For their one year anniversary they will actually be doing a chip run and

a few questions
>http://www.m4if.org/resources.html > See also http://www.mpeg4ip.net/ which has a lot of open source and available MPEG-4 code available. The licensing issue is still a mess, although they hope to make it at least coherent "real soon now". Use at your own risk. BTW, there is no MP4. The equivalent audio codec is the Dolby AAC. beta3 problems
Hiya, Just downloaded beta3, and I actually got it to compile without too much hassle. Great job! Still, some problems: -- (easy): the -V option to ogg123 is broken, --version works. -- make profile doesn't work (in vorbis-tools), need to pass in some -pg -static or something like it (doesn't exactly work, -static is swallowed by libtool; read some docs, needs to be -all-static

Re: FhG $15k minimum
When I said I'd pay my £1 worth, I didn't mean it literally. Anyway, the point about larger companies is a good one. Earliers posts talk about if games companies would be willing to give funds to develop ogg, if these donations are tax deductable surely they are much more likely to give. The question is how legal is this? If they are getting direct benift from ogg, can that make tax

Embedded vorbis
If you look at low cost (~$10 to $20 at quantities) fix-point DSPs (TI C5416 for example), they don't have a lot of on-chip RAM. 5416 has 128k, which is already a lot. Of cause you can use external RAM, but this not only will increase cost and board space, but will also degrade performance a lot. Many of the speed-enhancing tricks only work with on-chip memory. Once you go off chip, you lost a

[Fwd: Re: Regarding non-streaming Ogg]

[Fwd: Re: Regarding non-streaming Ogg]
[pardon me if this retreads some ground, but I'm just getting up to speed on this issue] so am I to understand -- application/ogg is for downloading, and will invoke an app that supposedly can parse *any* ogg file -- audio/vorbis is for streaming -- but this is narrowly defined as vorbis audio only. Presumably the thinking is that a streaming application is likely to be less

What kind of Ogg Vorbis-services you would like to h ave?
I know this is a little OT for the list and blatent advertising but inkeeping with the thread topic, I've just finished a Windows playlist generator for internet/radio stations. Suitable for highly automated situations. Features anti-song repeat & anti-artist repeat options. No song maintenance required. Works on a rotation or "clock" basis. Produces a personalised HTML

EAQUAL binaries
I am but a poor code & compile illiterate, making it impossible for me to create Windows binaries from the EAQUAL source (http://sourceforge.net/projects/eaqual/). Would someone be interested in providing said binaries? They would be very helpful to me in evaluating Ogg Vorbis and other audio codecs. I'm also sure that other people would benefit from the program. -- GMX - Die

CFLAGS / LDFLAGS
I notice that the user is not able to set their own CFLAGS or LDFLAGS in the ao, ogg, vorbis, and voribs-tools projects. Is there a reason for this? I understand the fact that these modules want to set extremely high optimization flags, and that most users won't know what these are offhand, but there are times when it is useful for the user to specify their own CFLAGS/LDFLAGS. For example,
