vbr / cbr / abr API calls
Hi, Maybe this is documented somewhere, if so, please send me a link to the documentation. My question is: how to set up different (VBR, CBR, ABR) modes when calling the Ogg Vorbis API? Currently I do: CBR: ret = vorbis_encode_setup_managed( &vorbisInfo, getInChannel(), getOutSampleRate(),

vorbis API calls
Hi devs, I am developing winLAME, a frontend for LAME, and it also supports Ogg Vorbis decoding and encoding. I've got a question about the new API function vorbis_encode_init_vbr(). Do I have to call vorbis_encode_init() before to set the bitrate(s)? And what is a good default value for the "base_quality" parameter? I read on the mailing list that ABR use in Ogg Vorbis is not so

vorbis bitrates - offtopic
Hi, I'm experimenting with IceCast2, using DarkIce to generate the stream. I have found some peculiarities with the vorbis bitrates. In DarkIce, I call vorbis_encode_init() with about the following values: vorbis_encode_init( &vorbisInfo, 2, 44100, 96, 96, 96); which by all reasons should generate a 96 kb/s stream, as all max_bitrate, nominal_bitrate and min_bitrate are set to 96.

OH323 Channel Driver buffer sizes
Hello! Anyone with some insight into the oh323 channel driver please shed some light on the code block below from wrapendpoint.cxx. When enabling trace on the channel driver i get this, for me, strange debug info: WrapH323EndPoint::OpenAudioChannel: Direction => PLAYER, Buffer => 320 WrapH323EndPoint::OpenAudioChannel: FrameSize 8, FrameTime 8, TimeUnits 8

i don't think so. this is my current code: for(i=0; i<samples;i++){ /*only get max 320 bytes at a time so bits can handle*/ Client->raw_audio[i] = *input++; Client->temp_audio[i] = Client->raw_audio[i]; Client->session_File[ndx] = Client->temp_audio[i]; ndx+=1; } speex_bits_reset(&ebits);

MSVC files include vorbisenc in the vorbis dynamic library
Hi, A short mail to let you know that the MSVC project files aren't OK compared to the Makefiles. Indeed they include the vorbisenc part (vorbisenc.c file, and vorbis_encode_* function names in the .def file) inside the vorbis library, and they also point to a non-existant file (bitbuffer.h) Here is a patch to fix this, in case you are interested (patch made on the win32 directory using

Libvorbis suggestion & floating point exception
Hello, I'm not quite sure if this is the right list for my questions, please excuse if it isn't. 1. While using vorbislib (Win2K/Borland C++ Builder 5), I'm getting reproducible floating point exceptions at lots of sample rate/bit rate combinations. For example, the original encoder_example.c, with just the initialization line changed to

Adding RC3 support to GoldWave

find_by_sql - multiple selects, same statement SQL error
I''m trying to get the following statement to work using variable substitution (it works if hard-code the where (med_type) param in the inner SQL statement): med_type = ''game'' @mediaformats = MediaFormat.find_by_sql("select * from media_formats where media_formats.media_type_id = (select media_type_id from media_types where media_type = ?, :med_type) order by

BeOS diffs
HI, how do I get mods applied to Vorbis, I'm not a cvs guru and I don't know much about configure scripts. BeOS has this little quirk of being 99% POSIX compliant so these mods are required for vorbis to compile. To define int64_t in codec.h #ifdef __BEOS__ #include <inttypes.h> #endif run.c in vq needs 'changing' around line 141 becuase S_IFSOCK isn't

vorbis.m4 macro glitch
Hi, I discovered a little error in vorbis.m4. The source for the test compile uses vorbis_encode_init() but does not include vorbisenc.h. This causes the test to fail when AC_LANG(C++) is used in my configure.ac script. For now my work-around is to surround the Ogg Vorbis tests with AC_LANG_PUSH(C) ... AC_LANG_POP(C) calls, but it should probably be fixed. Thanks, Davy --- >8

bitpack error message
Hi, i have some code that gives me a "warning: Buffer too small to pack bits" mesage. looking at the libspeex source/bits.c i see the warning in a a function named speex_bits_pack. i'm not using this function. can someone tell me where this may be coming from since i've had a similiar problem before and had that fixed. i can't seem to pinpoint this one. thanks Greg

Problems trying to run the examples in windows vorbis sdk
I have just downloaded the vorbis sdk for windows, for researching purposes. I have compiled the example 'encoder_example.c' just to start, and it compiles, but I got a error in the following line just at the beginning: vorbis_encode_init(&vi,2,44100, -1, 128000, -1); The error is more or less: The instruction at '0xaddresss' referenced memory at '0xaddress'. Vorbis encoding using JavaScript
Hello, First of all, I am a complete newblet to anything dealing with audio (a lot of the vocabulary is still rather mysterious to me). I also don't often program in C so please don't throw too many stones if my workflow is less than ideal. :) I would like to port the vorbis encoder to JavaScript. Instead of porting everything by hand from ground up, which would take who-knows-how-long,

Oddcast & vorbisenc.dll
Hey oddsock, I was wondering why vorbisenc.dll is statically linked inside oddcastv3, yet vorbis.dll, ogg.dll, etc is not. This means I cannot update my stream to use a newer version of the encoder, and I can't try other tunings of encoders. I'm wondering if this is a mistake since vorbisenc.dll is distributed in your package, yet it is not used. It would be very nice if you could

win32: Encoder using vorbisenc.dll - AV?
Hello, When I compile either oggenc or encoder_example with static libraries, they work fine, but when I try them with the dynamic libraries, I get an access violation in vorbisenc.dll with both oggenc and encoder_example. Can anyone on win32 confirm this? It's strange because vorbisfile.dll *does* work with vorbisfile_example, and the configuration for vorbisfile.dll is exactly the same

vorbisenc API docs
Hi, I'm trying repeatedly to get some more information on the vorbis encoding API. My last questions on this list were regarding vorbis_encode_ctl(). Of course prior to posting such questions to the list, I checked the vorbis web site for info. Unfortunately there is no information on the related function, the page http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/doc/vorbisenc/vorbis_encode_ctl.html
