Metadata
Hi! Been trying to figure out how to stream metadata. I got metadata streaming working for MP3, but just cant seem to make it work for Ogg? This is how I *think* it works - please correct me where I'm wrong: 1. For MP3 the metadata is updated via a HTTP GET (aka Old shoutcast method, just new URL /admin/) 2. For Ogg the metadata is embedded directly into the stream using a comment packet? I

Behaviour of server-side stream dump
Hi: If a source connects to a mount that has the stream dump enabled and the file already exists, which of the following will happen: 1. the old file is overwritten. 2. The new stream is appended to the old one. 3. Either the old or new file is written with a modified name so that they can both exist. Thanks, Geoff. <p> -- Geoff Shang <gshang@uq.net.au> ICQ number 43634701

Can't compile vorbis-tools CVS
Hi all: I haven't had any luck with this on vorbis-dev, so I thought I'd try here. Note that for those who have read this already, there's new stuff at the bottom. I'm getting the folowing when attempting to compile vorbis-tools from CVS: Making all in intl make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/cvs/vorbis-tools/intl' make[1]: *** No rule to make target

Problems streaming Ogg Vorbis with icecast2+ices
Hello, Perhaps it is a typical question but i've got stuck. I'm using icecast2+ices to stream some ogg vorbis files or voice_in_life (/dev/dsp) over the network/internet. All seems to work fine, for example using: ogg123 http://127.0.0.1:8000/mount works :). And: ogg123 http://my_internet_ip:8000/mount works too from another pc over internet and far away :). Using mplayer works fine

streaming FAQ
You know, we really need a streaming FAQ. There seem to be LOTS of undocumented command-line switches for oggenc that help in limiting bitrates that folks don't know about. The recent thread with Derek at CD Baby brought out a lot of good info that I didn't know, and I consider myself fairly plugged-in. It would be helpful to have something like: Q: How do I limit the bitrate to

ogg123 bug
Potentially nasty bug in current HEAD when printing the name of the file being played (the "Playing: filename.ogg" bit), any % symbols in the name appear to be printf parsed causing either junk to be printed or a crash or both. I noticed this when trying out http streaming as the url has %20's in it for spaces in the file name. Oh, and it still says it's rc2... --

Winamp decoder plugin user-agent ident
Hi: Have been testing the latest winamp plugins on my icecast2 stream (http://bumpy.braille.uwo.ca:9000/test.ogg <plug plug>) and I noticed that in the field where the player/browser is listed in the log entries I see Mozilla for the winamp plugin. Isn't this ummmm. wrong? Geoff. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage:

Hi: I've read that there is experimental speex and theora support in a development branch of icecast somewhere. Speex would be ideal for this kind of thing. speex support in icecast
Has anyone looked at added Speex support to icecast2 and ices? xiph.org on Linuxfund
Hi: OK, all those who think icecast and vorbis etc are a cool thing, if you've not yet gone up to linuxfund.org to vote for xiph.org, then today is the last day that you can do so. Xiph is leading by a decent margin but we want to be sure that they get the money, right? So lets give all the available pesos to this project so that they can get the money. Geoff. --- >8 ---- List
