HTTP streaming / mime type
Hi!
- what is the mime type for ogg?
- does the current implementation (xmms/winamp plugin) support http streaming?
Bye,

Console as extension problems
I'm trying to set up the console as an extension (so I can set up overhead
paging), but I can't seem to get it to work. When I call my paging extension,
I get an error that it can't open the device:
-- Executing Ringing("Zap/9-1", "") in new stack
-- Executing Dial("Zap/9-1", "Console/dsp0|18|A(new/whistle)") in new stack

True surround sound for Ogg -- a proposal
Hi everyone,
Over the last two weeks or so, I've been thinking about how to add surround
sound to Ogg -- and more than that, to do it in the best way possible. With
this in mind, I started considering using Ambisonic surround sound. The
advantages of this format are considerable:
a) It was developed in the early to mid '70s, so the patents should
be expired by now.

Ogg audio surround-sound
This came out of the OggPCM discussion, but I think it needs to be addressed on
a wider scale.
Let's start here, 5 years ago..

(I included this email, below)
I emailed David (author of that email) and asked him to join this list.
I'm thinking, as I look at the problem, that surround sound needs to be defined

Cisco 7940/7960 SIP functionality questions
Hello,
I'm considering using Asterisk with some type of Cisco phone, and currently
considering either the 7940 or 7960 because of its more-complete functionality
(compared to the 7905).
I'm currently wondering:
Do all the expected functions (transfer, conference, voice mail, message
waiting indicator, etc.) work normally with Asterisk over SIP?
What caveats are known about using

Distribution Fixes
I have two patches enclosed below. One for 'ogg' and the other for 'vorbis'.
Basically, I was trying to do a 'make dist' and then 'rpm -ta <filename>' to
try and generate some nice RPMs for vorbis stuff.
Basically in the ogg .spec file, I move the 'libogg.a' and 'libogg.so' stuff into
the devel package (all other packages I've seen do

Ogg123 Patch Status?
I was just curious about the patch that I sent for ogg123 that implements the
--quiet and adds in the --skip option?
Also - I would like to know what are the main cvs modules and branches in
which development takes place?
Specifically, I would like to look at the very latest libao and ogg123
sources.
I would also like to know where the main development for libvorbis takes place

~/.mime.types - format conflict with standard /etc/mime.types?
Hi,
It seems that wine (or rather cxoffice) installs a non-standard
~/.mime.types file, and that makes other programs (e.g. lynx) die. Is
there a bug here? Whose?
Its format differs from /etc/mime.types (from the mime-support package
on debian etch):
# Users can add their own types if they wish by creating a ".mime.types"
# file in their home directory. Definitions included

mime yaml
First off, apologies if this is addressed.. I didn''t find anyone
having the same problem (which usually means the problem is me!)
I''m running the standard command to start a Rails server, with
additional custom mime YAML:
mongrel_rails start -m /etc/mongrel_mime.yml
Content of the /etc/mongrel_mime.yml is only a single line:
.xml: text/xml
However, the custom mime

gmime-2.1.19 and mime decoding
Everyone,
Please forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but
would sure appreciate some direction if this list is the wrong place.
Looks like Fedora 5 and 6 have gmime-2.1.19 as part of the distribution,
but it is not present within CentOS 5 or with the extra repositories
I would like to use some of the tools in this package to decode some
mime e-mail attachments on a CentOS

custom mime types for respond_to
Is there a way to add a mime type of my own to respond_to ?
There''s html, xml, js, ical etc ...
But I want to be able to respond_to Excel.
Excel has the following content-type header:
application/vnd.ms-excel
I want to use the new ?format=xml querystring parameters that respond_to
can respond to.
So I want to pass in ?format=xsl or ?format=ms-excel so that I can
return my results

Here''s what I want to do (look for comment in before_save method):
