Playing AVI files in fake Windows
Reading the documentation I can see that MCI AVI dll is not implemented
except as stubs. Is there any way to play AVI files without installing
Windows, say by installing Media Player?
Regards,
Simon B.

AVI Theora?
Hello,
I'm an adventure?games dev, and I'm trying to compress my video to a sort
of "AVI Theora". I want to use AVI instead of Ogg as the container
format, but retain the Theora compressed core.
The reason I want to use AVI as the container is rather too complicated to
explain, and I actually don't entirely understand it myself.
Is this possible?
Thanks,
? James Wilson

Piping AVI to ffmpeg2theora
I wish to transcode an AVI from 29fps to 15fps theora. I have tried many
combinations.
The nearest I have so far is to:
1)
ffmpeg -i input.avi -f avi -vcodec rawvideo -acodec pcm_s16le -r 15 -ar
22050 -ac 1 intermediate.avi
then
2)
./ffmpeg2theora-0.15.linux.bin -f avi -c1 -H 22050 -o out.ogg
intermediate.avi
This gives me an output I want, however, the intermediate uncompressed

Upload AVI convert to quicktime/flash
Is there a way to upload an AVI and convert it into quicktime, or flash,
and generate an output in those format(s).
Like YouTube...
I have no idea how that is done. I am fascinated and was wondering if it
was possible.
Cheers.

Create CD from avi files
I have avi files in xVid format from my Camera, and I want to create a
Video CD that can be viewed on any CD player.
I have searched through the various repos (including rpmforage and
kbsingh) and did not find anything that would burn.
I have a number of programs that have no trouble displaying these
files. Including xzine, Avidemux, and VideoLAN-Client).
I unfortunately have to make these

AVI Theora?
Hello,
It's been a little while, but I've got some new info. I've tried doing this with Mencoder, ffmpeg, VLC player, and AVIdemux. None work. When I try to either convert a theora(ogm/ogv) file to AVI, while using?variations of "-vcodec copy" to keep theora comression, or just compress an AVI with Theora, it does one of several things, depending on settings and the program

AVI stream w/ AC3 5.1ch
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I have an AVI file (~900MB) that I want to convert to OGM format, with a
~ DivX 5 video and uncompressed AC3 (5.1ch) audio stream. Nandub doesn't
want to compress the audio, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend
a (Windows) tool to help. Thanks for your time!

dumpfile with libshout2/icecast2
Heyas,
I'm trying to get setDumpfile working with the java libshout bindings.
I am calling shout_set_dumpfile(shout,char*) after specifying the port,
host, mount and password, yet, the dumpfile is not created on the server
side. To be more specific, I'm trying this:
bin/streamAdmin -d /tmp/test.mp3 -h streams.benow.ca -p 80 -P pass -m
/benow
which sets the dumpfile to be /tmp/test.mp3

[PATCH 1/4] drm/edid: Pass connector to AVI inforframe functions
From: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala at linux.intel.com>
Make life easier for drivers by simply passing the connector
to drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_from_display_mode() and
drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_quant_range(). That way drivers don't
need to worry about is_hdmi2_sink mess.

Introducing ov_open_callbacksp and ov_clearp
Hello,
I've been looking to the libvorbisfile and got into troubles when trying to
use it: I need to compile it on a PalmOS and the libvorbisfile must be
compiled in ARM whereas calling code is in 68K. This implies that the
interface ov_open_callback is not usable because the OggVorbis_File *vf must
point to something in the target architecture (ARM) whereas the caller
cannot do that.

voribs_analysis() question
A variation on questions that I've asked before...
In working on the parallel version of oggenc (both threaded and MPI), a
profiling run shows that the function vorbis_analysis() takes up the
majority of the run time. This seems to be an obvious choice for
parallelization -- send each vorbis_block to a different processor, and
let them call vorbis_analsis() in parallel with each other.

Add vorbis_dsp_init() ?
Hi,
This mozilla bug report is a crash triggered by a Vorbis file with
corrupt headers:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481601
The patch to fix the crash adds a new vorbis_dsp_init() function to
libvorbis, and calls
that from fs_vorbis_init() in libfishsound:
https://bug481601.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=366150
The public function it adds is:

dump-file per source per mount
Hi !
Maybe you could find something with this line in the <mount> section of the
icecast.xml file:
<dump-file>/tmp/dump-example1.ogg</dump-file>
But I prefer to use streamripper which can do this easily on a client side:

Multiple Stream? Request for Config
Greeting all --
I'm having some problems setting up multiple streams with iceS, for
example, a hi-bandwidth and lo-bandwidth stream of the same audio. Could
someone post a config that works in this case?
thanks
