cvs changes
I'm trying to clean up CVS, getting everything where it should be, because pretty soon we're going to have to build SDK's and whatnot, and I want that to be easy. We're basically going to have 3 libraries: 1) libogg 2) libvorbis 3) libvorbisfile I have separated libogg out from the rest of the code, cleaned it up, got it doing 'make dist' and rpms and imported this into

beta4 merge
Monty merged his branch onto mainline. mainline is now beta4. Give it a whirl, test the crap out of it, etc. I've got about 20-30 emails full of minor patches and a few big patches for build system stuff, so for those of you who were waiting on me, I haven't forgotten and will be getting to those in the next few days. If all goes well, we'll be tagging beta4 and cutting the

BeOS diffs
HI, how do I get mods applied to Vorbis, I'm not a cvs guru and I don't know much about configure scripts. BeOS has this little quirk of being 99% POSIX compliant so these mods are required for vorbis to compile. To define int64_t in codec.h #ifdef __BEOS__ #include <inttypes.h> #endif run.c in vq needs 'changing' around line 141 becuase S_IFSOCK isn't

Branch stuff
I've been playing with the current Monty branch and I've found a case where it performs poorly. I havn't had a chance to verify the mainline (network at home isn't working; System with good headphones isn't on net, and I've only sneakernetted the branch).. The gspi35_1 sounds like it's suffering from preecho. I changed the preecho threshold to make more shortblocks,

Proposal for Bitrate peeling.
Hi all, First up, this is not a proposal on how to do it, but rather on how to get it done. In the latest thread it was mentioned that it was most likely that either Monty or Segher would be the most likely people to implement this code. It was also stated that this is not their priority at the moment. I can only see two solutions to this problem: 1. Find someone else with the knowledge and

Tagging win32 modules
I sent a request for permission to do this a few days ago. I'm waiting to hear back from Monty or Jack. -Chris >Hi, > >Could somebody build a new OggDrop and release it? Vorbis decoder 1.0 release candidate 1 in CVS
We're there. The decode engine with all 1.0 features is finished and in CVS, tagged as release candidate 1. CVS mainline head and the current nightly snapshot will get you the latest and greatest. Next, we continue work toward rc1 of the encode side. Monty --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this

State of CVS?
Hi: A friend of mine wants to know whether to update to CVS. Last I heard, CVS was only encoding at 128kbps mode, but this was a few weeks back. More recently though, Monty alluded to problems he was having with the libs. So what's the current status? Argh, preecho mistriggers
In case people on the list don't know it, A Vorbis tester (who's email I've lost! If you're on the list, speak up!) is maintaining a vorbis audio quality test page: http://hem.passagen.se/ingets1/vorbis.htm He's doing us the great service of hunting down samples that break Vorbis (so we don't have to :-) In any case, it turns out that the trumpets in the dr4 sample

wma8 decodings
Monty wanted some samples with which to compare Vorbis and WMA, and he doesn't have a Win32 machine, so I made some. Microsoft has made their own demo samples available at: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/en/WM8/audio.asp I took their original .wav's, and encoded them with their wma8 encoder utility (WM8EUTIL.EXE), using all of the available stereo modes at 44.1kHz. This is an error in the build, yes, but I don't see why you'd get unresolved symbols. *unused*, yes, but not unresolved... > > sharedbook.c

Using Samba over VPN - shares disconnect on Windows clients
I am running Poptop 1.1.4 VPN server, Samba 3.0.6, RH 9 (2.4.20-8 patched for mppe-mppc). When the end user connects via VPN, they can create a share to the samba shared folder that was created. When they clost the explorer window, then reopen the shared drive from the "My Computer" view, the share can not be re-opened with the error that the mapped drive is alreay in use. I have

bitstream changes
ok now I see why we need another packet in the header. The first one is basically for ID purposes (theora_decode_header()). I've jammed my huffman trees in there but it sucks because I need them later on when I actually build the huffman tree structs (theora_decode_init, calls InitHuffmanSet()). At that point the original header packet is gone so I've been keeping it around in a buffer.
