WinAmp Streaming
I'm currently working on adding streaming capabilities to the WinAmp plugin and was wondering if I'm duplicating anyone else's work. Right now it's about half done. I'll be submitting the changes when it's finished (if I can figure out how to work CVS :-). Aaron Porter --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage:

You'd still have to pay the royalties. It DOES matter if it's mp3. You have to pay the publisher royalties regardless, but in addition, there's a 2%

Debian package problems (fwd)
---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 30 Nov 2000 21:31:52 -0800 From: crusius@stanford.edu To: feedback@vorbis.com Subject: Debian package problems Hi. First of all, congratulations on the nice job. I downloaded your Debian packages for the libraries and ogg123, but the dependencies are wrong: the stable version of Debian (potato) ships with libc6 version 2.1.3, but your packages

Tarkin video codec?
Me again, this time not about patents but about wavelets. I've been doing some work on an image compression method which uses Haar wavelets plus VQ and entropy coding, and Segher Boessenkool told me in a private message that you are also doing a video codec. So I searched the archives and read a bunch of posts, but I never did find out any web address. And it's not on xiph.org either. So

Lossless video codec
I know this probably transcends the scope of the current aims of Ogg video, but one thing I'd consider extremely useful is a lossless video compressor. There are a few of them out there (e.g. PICVideo's lossless wavelet codec) but I've found no free ones so far. The primary use would be for storage of video clips that would be too cumbersome to store as raw frames but still require

Compiling question about the nightly CVS download
I'm doing something wrong but the directions I follow seem simple: tar xvfz vorbis-nightly-cvs.tgz (in /root) cd vorbis ./configure make make install There didn't seem to be any unusual output from configure or make, but make install results in: cat install.sh >install chmod a+x install both of these files are empty. The directories /usr/local/bin, usr/local/man and

bitkeeper repository moved to cvs
The BitKeeper repository has been taken down, and all the code moved into CVS. While BitKeeper is a superior source management tool to CVS in many ways, it lacks in one important way, Freedom. With the recent change to their license, taking away more of our freedoms, I felt it was time to go back to CVS. All the code has been imported into the xiph.org CVS repository. I'll try to revise

copies of RE: what I'd like to do
Why do I have a couple hundred copies of this email? Are others on the list getting multiple copies? I've gotten a copy every hour and 20 minutes since 4/5. Fixed-point Vorbis decoder
Hi, I'm the author of a fixed-point MPEG audio decoder called MAD: http://www.mars.org/home/rob/proj/mpeg/ I've been considering the possibility of writing a similar fixed-point decoding library for Ogg Vorbis. Unfortunately, every time I've looked for Vorbis decoding specifications, I have found them incomplete. :-( I'd rather not try to reverse-engineer specifications

THe problem is that hte standard include paths are searched first. I'm not sure if there is a way to get around this.
