file size and actually blocks do not match
I have a disk where serveral files have a file size that is much bigger then the space they actually use. THe file size is bogus. In the example below, the size is reported as 4.2MB but the file is really supposed to be on 116K which is true accoring to du and the block list from debugfs. However, doing a 'cat |wc' file actually gives me 4.2MB bytes. Where are those extra bytes coming

Problems setting up nested qdisc, feedback to LARTC HOWTO
Hi all, based on the information in the "Linux Advanced Routing & Traffic Control HOWTO", I was trying to set up traffic shaping on my firewall. While I found the HOWTO very useful, in the process I ran into some problems that I did not forsee: According to the HOWTO it seems that it should have worked, even after spending some time going through the sections looking for answers,

Font issue with Wine
Hello, I'm under Ubuntu - Jaunty Jackalope. While installing 3 different games under Wine (Medieval II - Total War, Patrician III : Rise of the Hanse and Anno 1503), the installation went smoothly but the same problem of the game asking to insert an already inserted CD occured. By searching the web, it appeared that it was a cd protection issue, so I found no-cd patches and applied them.

select_month helper
I''m trying to rewrite a fusebox-like application (Active4D plugin to 4D database) in RoR/postgres and I''m doing okay - but keep running into things that stump me. It seems like it takes me hours to figure out something that I could have written in pure code in minutes. The select_month and select_day helper has been my latest waste of time. All I''m trying to do is add

HOWTO unmaintained?
Hi, more than a month ago I proposed an addition to the HOWTO to address a certain packet classification problem/bug and how to fix it (see http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2005q3/016728.html). I never received any reaction from the HOWTO maintainers, not even when addressing them directly (see mail below). Given that a month has gone by: Is the HOWTO currently unmaintained? Regards,

[AVS] Question concerning reverse synchronization of a zpool
Hi, I''m struggling to get a stable ZFS replication using Solaris 10 110/06 (actual patches) and AVS 4.0 for several weeks now. We tried it on VMware first and ended up in kernel panics en masse (yes, we read Jim Dunham''s blog articles :-). Now we try on the real thing, two X4500 servers. Well, I have no trouble replicating our kernel panics there, too ... but I think I

cumsum function to determine plankton phenology
Apologies for the empty email earlier! I have species abundance data sampled at a weekly frequency or sometimes monthly depending on the year. The goal is to identify the dates in an annual cycle in which the cumulative abundance of a species reaches some threshold. Here's an example of the data for 1 species over an annual period: "mc_pheno" is the object created from this data:

rsync for the brave
Anyone here run rsync on a Win32 platform? I know, I'm a glutton for pain. Anyway, I'm using 'cwrsync' on one system to copy files from a local drive (F:) to a mapped (network) drive (Y:). The problem I'm having is with that infamous 'Network Trash Folder'. I can't get it to ignore it on the remote (mapped) drive, and it doesn't exist on the local drive.

how to evaluate the significance of attributes in tree gr owing
FWIW, I wrote a little function to extract variable importance as defined in the CART book a while ago. It's rather limited: Only works for regression problem, and you need to set maxsurrogate=0 and maxcompete=0. It may (or may not) help you: varimp.rpart <- function(x) { dev <- x$frame[, c("var", "dev")] dev <- dev[dev$var != "<leaf>",

[PATCH] drm/nv50/gr: add missing nv_error parameter priv
Commit ea7dce901 ("drm/nv50/gr: print mpc trap name when it's not an mp trap") added an nv_error call that was missing the priv parameter. This causes GPFs if the error is ever hit.
