oggdropXPd quality selection problems
To those who have reported having a problem selecting real number quality settings, could you kindly test the new compile you can d/l from: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jfe1205/testXPd.ZIP and report whether this resolves the problem. No major changes, but I regularised a number of type casting discrepancies that could have been causing a problem. I'm sorry to have to ask for help on this

oggdropXPd.exe crashes when resampling is activated
I need to encode a WAV to OGG but must resample to 22050 samples per second, but can't do that with oggdropXPd.exe. The application always crashes. What I do is: Start oggdropXPd.exe. Right-click on fish, choosing 'Encoding Options'. Under Advanced Options, I set Re-sample to 22050 samples per second. Click 'Accept'. Drag WAV on fish. In the directory where the WAV originates,

Pre-compiled OS X binaries?
Stephen F. Booth, the author of a number of audio progs for OS X (sbooth.org), is a subscriber to this list too and he might be able to provide an OS X build of FLAC 1.3.0. However, I can understand the Xiph policy of only supplying officially blessed versions compiled by themselves. I guess we'll have to wait for 1.3.1... win32sdk-1.0.1
If you are after a 1.0.1 SDK built in the same format as 1.0, and if the current CVS is firm for the release, then you can download the SDK from: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jfe1205/OggVorbis-win32sdk-1.0.1.zip This is built from the current CVS using MSVC++6 SP5. If this helps speed up the release, great, otherwise, no problem, it kept me amused for a few minutes!! John <p>--- >8

Multi-channel support
Hi All, Are multi-channel (more than 2) formats fully supported in the OggVorbis specification ? I couldn't find any information about multi-channel support on xiph.org. I've used 'oggdropXPd' to encode a 5.1 wavefile and the Xiph OggVorbis libraries (vorbisfile.dll) to decode the file successfully, however the order of the channel interleaving is different to the original wave

Big issue regarding channel order mapping in 5.1 has been reported
I know there's a bug tracker, and that is exactly the reason why I am posting this on the dev list. There has been a report from one of the foobar developers regarding oggenc on the HA forums, but he later posted it at the bug tracker as well. Three weeks have passed and no one seems to have noticed it was there. ~*~ URL: http://trac.xiph.org/cgi-bin/trac.cgi/ticket/736 Subject:

problems with various settings
Hi, my name is Raymond and I'm new to this list. While I think Vorbis sounds good with its "quality" settings, I have a few problems when I set the format to constrain the bitrate so it doesn't go any higher than 128KBPS, for example. This problem only occurs with stereo files, not mono. Let's say I set the format to use bitrates up to 45KBPS. Well, the low-pass filter has
