Q: "MP3 direct cut" for Vorbis?
Hi!
Maybe some of yopu know "MP3 direct cut" that allows you to cut out parts of an MP3 file as well as add some fading without having to re-encode the whole file. That's nice for making your own ring tones. Does something similar exist for Ogg/Vorbis?

Q: Tool to copy Vorbis comments to MP3 ID tags
Hi,
I'm wondering: If you have audio files like foo1.ogg and foo1.mp3, and the Vorbis
file has nice comments (title, tracknumber, artist, album, date, etc), is there a
tool to copy the information to an MP3 file on a "best effort" strategy?
I know that MP3 TAGs are quite limited regarding lengths.

Maximum possible size of vorbis packet...
I'm looking to trim down the size of the buffers i'm using... and at the
moment, i've set each "media sample" (ie packet) to the size of the maximum
reasonably possible for any codec (ie video)... about half a meg each... and
there's quite a few of them... now i'd like to set the buffer size based on
the codec, as obviously the audio codecs need much less space

Opus player for older Android
Hi!
You probably know already, but recently there's "fobbar2000 mobile" available for Android (I think Windows and iOS, too), and it plays Opus even ol older Android (like 4.0).

Q: [OT] concatenating audio files
Hi,
this is a bit off-topic, but maybe you can help me: When extracting the autio
track of a concert on video DVD, I noticed that the *.VOB files each contained
only about 16 minutes of music, resulting in multiple files. I extracted to flac
for further processing, but now I wonder how to make one continuous sound stream
of those:
Can I simple concatenate the flac files to make on big file

MP3/Vorbis/Opus: What I think I hear
Hi!
Sorry, I know the rules for comparing objective subjective listening impressions, but I'd like to know whether from the algorithmic or implementer's point of view the following personal impressions can be confirmed:
Comparing MP3 with Vorbis at rather high bitrates, I had the impression the Vorbis sounded more crispy, while MP3 sounded somewhat softened. I preferred Vorbis for that

Vorbis Players for Windows
Hi,
I've recently put a few of my tracks online (http://livenraw.npfdd.ch/
for those interested; it's a solo-rock-performance by me) and of course
I've used Vorbis for this.
Now I had several reports on the topic "How do I play these ogg-things
on Windows?". I've linked to http://www.vorbis.com/ but apparently this
is not easy enough.
One of my friends even told me he

Ogg Vorbis DirectShow status ?
Hi!
What is the status of DirectShow support (read: playy vorbis in Windows
Media Player 9 or 10 ) ?
The vorbis.com web pages only link to some ancient web pages (xwmedia and
tobias).
I remember there was a wiki page about setting this up (partially written by
me),
but can't find it any more.
Was the idea of playing ogg/vorbis in DS applications dropped ?

Status of Vorbis in Realplayer
Hi:
I'm working with an internet station. The station manager and I firmly
believe in Ogg Vorbis. We already run transcodes of the 56k MP3 stream so
modem listeners have the opportunity to hear stereo. We'd like to change
our primary stream to Vorbis ultimately, but that will involve overcoming
a number of challenges, not the least of which will be getting all the
broadcasters to

Company needing an ogg/vorbis programmer for contract work.
Hi guys.
I hope this isn't too off-topic for this list...
I work for a company that is currently using ogg/vorbis in their audio
software product as one of several possible encodings. We want to add
some new functionality to the software that will require a little
specialist coding from someone who knows the ogg codebase.
Specifically, we need a library to provide vorbis file

FYI: power consumption MP3 vs. Vorbis
Hi,
I'm using a Samsung YEPP 6 for some time, but I recently got surprised: It seems
that listening to Ogg (=Vorbis) empties the batteries much faster than listening
to MP3. Both files have about the same bit rate. I did not make electrical
measurements, but I think things are as they seem to be.
Did anybody make similar experience? Or maybe "required CPU cycles to decode"

Streaming ogg vorbis to windows media player
Hi,
I have been struggling with streaming ogg vorbis audio to windows
media player for a couple of days now with no success. I would really
appreciate if someone could provide more insight into this. Please do
let me know if there is any other mailing list which would be
appropriate for a question like this. I posted this to vorbis mailing list.
However this issue could not be resolved.

Antw: Re: Q: Bandwidth vs. bitrate
Hi!
Useful advice, thanks! Actually I had been using foobar2000 to recode, because it just makes it so easy to convert multiple files while keeping the metadata (I confess, I'm a "tagger"). But it's easy to miss some encoder option when being presented some default suggestions in a dialog form...
Apart form that I always had the impression that Opus could be quite smart

Ogg Vorbis Playback with Windows Media Player
Where do I go and what do I download to enable Ogg Vorbis Playback with
Windows Media Player? I found something on sourceforge.net but at the top
it says
Current (Test and development files; these can damage your whole DirectShow
system and probably requires a complete Windows reinstallation)
o I don't want to do that, I want to make sure I pick the right thing first
