Search list of elements for a specific pattern
Hi,
I have a list of mutations, called "mutList", of the form:
> head(mutList)
Alu
1 AluJ
2 AluJ/F(R)AM
3 AluJ/FLAM
4 AluJ/FRAM
5 AluJ/monomer
6 AluJb
It contains about 500 elements and not all of them contain the
sequence "Alu". I tried using this code:
Alu<-mutList[which(grep("Alu",mutList)==1)]
But that simply returned

Help with glmer {lme4) function: how to return F or t statistics instead of z statistics.
Hi,
I'm new to R and GLMMs, and I've been unable to find the answers to my
questions by trawling through the R help archives. I'm hoping someone
here can help me.
I'm running an analysis on Seedling survival (count data=Poisson
distribution) on restoration sites, and my main interest is in
determining whether the Nutrients (N) and water absorbing polymer Gel

First impressions of iRiver iHP120
Battery life sucks.
This may be due to three factors:
1. It was the first charge that the machine had
2. Playing Vorbis takes more battery power than MP3
3. The battery is a bit rubbish
More considered opinions to follow.

Information on the DMC 800
The page to see this if you cannot see HTML on e-mail or just want to look
at all of it is.
Sometimes, if it is reasonable, people would prefer not to search around to
web sites so I am posting highlights in HTML as well as giving the link.
Could someone buy me a DMC-800 :-). Why I always look for components and off
brands that focus on engineering rather than marketing is that they are not

RS485 Audio device
Hi All,
Is there any devices or pair of devices that do audio over RS485
and then convert to SIP for us in asterisk?
Of course a speaker and push button at the other end.
Is there anything like that out there?
Thanks,
Jerry

Inserting rows into linking table
Hi,
I have two objects:
Contacts
Lists
I want to be able to add multiple contacts to multiple lists.
I''ve created a linking table and a form that allows me to select the
contacts using checkboxes, but I''m having some problems with the
controller and model.
I receive the following error message when I submit the form:

Action on phone pickup
How do I get asterisk to do something when I pick up
a phone? For instance, I've got a regular pots
phone hooked up to a zaptel interface, and I want
it to vocalize "hello" when I pick up the phone and
then give me a dial tone, wait for digits, make
a call, etc.
I tried the 's' extension in extensions.conf and setting 'immediate'
to "yes' in zapata.conf and

project directions
Hey all,
just recently I stumbled upon this
http://ferret.davebalmain.com/trac/timeline
which seemed like good news. I thought Ferret was put on hold or
perhaps dying, and having participated recently in a few discussions
with people who also thought that was the case, I didn''t have a good
answer for it.
So, is anyone informed if there will be some development going on
Ferret, as in

Re: Future directions for R for Windows
Thank you for all the valuable feedback so far. I will try to produce a
summary of views and suggestions early next week, so there is plenty of
time for more views.
There is a clear polarization between those who like Windows, and those who
use it under duress! Fine: there does not need to be just one version.

This could be added to
http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php/SYSLINUX#Creating_a_Bootable_Disk
statement:
"In order to create a bootable disk using SYSLINUX, prepare
a normal MS-DOS formatted disk."
Like
