Audio popping in OggDS
Hi all,
I'm experiencing problems with the OggDS filters. The main one is that when I
play back an audiovideo OGG file (2 x stereo audio track, one played at a time)
the sound is popping and crackling continuously. I thought it was buffer
starvation but it was not. Even if I save to wav the decompressed vorbis track
it contains the popping. It is very audible.
Is it a known problem?

Query Regarding Vorbis Audio codec
Dear Moderator,
I downloaded Vorbis 1.2.0 code from your website and I tried to build
a project in Visual studio 2008, as the earlier version was created in
VC 6 version it has been modified here. In the solution I have 6
projects vorbis_dynamic, vorbis_static, vorbisenc_dynamic,

Winamp vorbis crash
Hi!
( I am sending this also to vorbis@xiph.org, because Peters
homepage at http://www.blorp.com/~peter/ is ... dead, and I
am not sure what his email address is )
I have a ( more than probably corrupt ) ogg/vorbis file that makes
winamp lock up. If I drag&drop the file on winamp, the position
slider will start flashing at the leftmost position and winamp
does not respond to any user input

OggVDS Where?
Where can I download the Ogg Vorbis DirectShow Filter? I've heard,
that there is a newer version than 0.9.9.5. There's a bug in either
OggMux or Tobias' Filter which causes text to be erased after special
(unicode?) characters in the chapter list.

oggenc: feature request
I have a small feature request for oggenc:
Can a command line option be added to allow the user to set the first
serial number to be used for the output ogg stream?
This only takes a few lines of code, actually.
Rationale: it is quite helpful for debugging other encoders. If oggenc is
the "reference" encoder, ensuring that your new whiz-bang encoder has
diffable output to oggenc is a

Ogg support in Windows Media Player 9 and WMP Media Library
Greetings all,
I've got some questions and news (I think) regarding the Ogg
DirectShow filter, and Ogg support in Windows Media Player
and the WMP Media Library.
The OggDS that's in CVS -- is there any reason it's only
at the 0.9.9.3 level and not the 0.9.9.5 level that's on
Tobias's webpage?

B&W
Hi,
We want to get a B&W output from any video input (B&W or Color). So when we
encoded into B&W video compression will be increased is it correct? Can we
archive this by a existing encoder_example.

OGG/Vorbis DirectShow
Hi!
On http://www.vorbis.com/software.psp?pid=2 ( Other Vorbis software
for windows ) there is a link called "Ogg Vorbis DirectShow Filters"
pointing to http://sf.net/projects/mediaxw That project is dead !
But there is another vorbis DS project at
http://tobias.everwicked.com/oggds.htm , which is actively developed.
How about updating the vorbis.com page to point to this DS-vorbis

Vorbis in Windows Media Player 9, (partial) success
As I said on http://wiki.xiph.org/ClientSupport
I managed to get WMP9 under Windows 2003 to work with OGG vorbis files.
Requisite : OggDS 0.9.9.5
- they can be opened with the Open... dialog and WMP does not complain any
more that it is an unsupported file format
- they can be dragged from explorer into WMP and WMP will play them without
any complaint
- they can be added to the media library.

Vorbis with BCB
After downloading the nightly snapshot last night, I've spent a good
part of the day trying to build the package with Borland C++Builder

Speex, what container?
But is there any sound player for windows that plays speex in an ogg container?
One more question, besides the source code found in the speex site (like speexenc.c) can you tell me where to find source code developed in C++ (using object oriented programing) that makes it easier to write ogg files with speex content?

FLAC Plug-in for Windows Media Player?
I was wondering if there is a FLAC plugin for Windows Media Player? Just
from doing web-searches, it doesn't look like there is, at least as far as I
can tell. So, if there isn't a plug-in for WMP, well, why isn't there? And
is there anyone working on one?
I'm a programmer, though I've never done any WMP programming. But, I would
think it wouldn't be too hard to do a

GTA:SA ogg file problem
There is an application that rips the radio stations in the game Grand Theft
Auto San Andreas, and it produces ogg vorbis files. These files do not play
on my iRiver iHP-120, it just skips on to the next track after about 1
second. I can provide an example file if someone would like to take a look
and see what might be causing the problem.

Where is this WiMP plugin that supports Icecast2 Vorbis streams? I would be
very much interested in that.
And where also is the Real plugin?

ogg and mp3
For your "non-technical" listeners, both WinAmp 2 and 3 support OGG. And it's
free, as I'm sure you know.
Challenge them to listen to the difference too. Once they hear how much
better OGG sounds at the lower bitrates, I'm sure they won't mind switching
over.
And you might as well try to force their hands away from Micro$oft's Windows
Media Player, if
