Comparison Between MP3 and Vorbis
Hello All, I realize that I am using pre-release code. I realize that the bitstream format will change in a couple of days. I realize that at this point comparisons between MP3 and Vorbis still don't mean much. BUT I couldn't resist. I ripped a random track off of one of my CDs and did some comparisons between Vorbis and MP3. I thought you guys might be interested in the results.

tools for broadcasting
Hi all, I'm sending this to both lists because I want to know what both sides of the conversation think about this. For those of you on the icecast list, can I have a recommendation on the right tool to broadcast with? If you like, I'll send you my prerecorded shows, just tell me what the best way to send those is. For the audacity list now, would it be possible to develop a broadcasting

Scale-plugin for ALL running Aplications
I have just switched from Beryl to compiz, as it seems to be much more stable. The only think, that I'm missing is, that scale just shows the open applications of the current viewport instead of all on all viewports. Is there an option in gconf I can tick to enable this or is it simply not implemented ans only a hack in beryl-scale? regards Peter Ackermann

Hello I am using wine release 20010216 and SuSE Linux 7.1. I can run small windows aplications like notepad with wine on my system, but I am not able to install larger MS-aplications like MS-Office 95 or 97. Yet another vorbis vs. mp3 comparison
One thing I must note before I begin is that, I probably just am not that well skilled at listening, but I can hear no difference between vorbis, mp3, and wav at the bitrates I encoded them at. lame 3.83 (beta) was used to encode the mp3s and mpg123 was used to decode. The current (Jun 8 00) encoder/decoder examples were used for vorbis. mp3s were encoded at 128 kbps, and vorbis is unknown
