Re: [Ffmpeg-devel] Re: Ogg Vorbis tracks in QT files
I'm explicitly forwarding this message to the people Christian HJW sent his
mail, just in case. There'll be no more crossposting. If anyone has opinions
to share, it'd be just right to send it to ffmpeg-devel (flames like HJW's
can go to devnull)
(BTW, HJW's rant is just like the ones on debian-devel. Even I unsubscribed
from that list, because it's so lame:)

If video is recorded and saved in ogg/theora container/format, could it be
converted into matroska/theora container/format

Lossless audio codecs for video editing
Hi,
this email is sent to flac-dev AT xiph DOT org, copied to matroska-devel
AT lists DOT matroska DOT org, and David Bryant, the author of Wavpack4.
We are about to implement the DV ( Digital Video ) video compression
standard into matroska, to be able to offer an intelligent alternative
to AVI for DV handling in editor tools. DV is using a high quality, high
bitrate lossy video compression

Theora in Matroska
Hi all
Currently Theora video in Matroska is not supported by
Mplayer. To enable the support Michael Niedermayer has
made the following proposal sometime back:
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.mplayer.nut.devel/214
Appreciate if Theora developers could comment on that.
Best Regards
Unga

[Flac-users] FLAC in the news
FYI,
Unless you've been checking the FLAC site you might have
missed some encouraging things that have happened in the
last few months. I haven't really been announcing things
in the lists along the way, but to summarize:
- Primus and Phish have been selling soundboard recordings
of shows in FLAC
- Magnatune (an indie label) offers their whole catalog in
FLAC and Vorbis now
- More

OGG/OGM media container
Hi all,
Xiph aims at developing open-standards media formats. Though xiph.org
tells about vorbis/theora/flac/speex, nothing is mentioned about container
to use (that is ogg/ogm). I have a few questions
Is there a difference between ogg and ogm? I guess its only the extension
that is different and everything else is same.
Some tools (like ogmtools) are available to create ogm files. What is

Hi,
i have the big pleasure to officially announce that the matroska
multimedia container project has finally left alpha status and turned
into public beta status last night. By following the links below you

Header structure for "video" stream ?
I am writing a tool that gives information on movie files (http://avicodec.duby.info/) and I want to add ogg support.
I have found full of information on ogg file format, vorbis file format, but nothing on the "video" bitstreams that I can found in some ogg files (with XVID movies mixed with vorbis audio for example).
I can see that the "video" structe looks like this, but

Theora support in ffdshow a ffvfw
Hi,
I'm developing ffdshow and ffvfw codecs for Windows. You can read more
about them at http://cutka.szm.sk and http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow.
Stéphane Bérubé asked me recently if I could implement Theora support. I knew
about first Theora release, downloaded its sources and tested it. I liked
the results add decided to support it.
I implemented encoding functionality into ffvfw,

Quicktime Vs Windows encoding with VP3
I found out about vp3 from the new winamp and coincidentally i also happen to be trying to find a suitable solution to broadband streaming.
I have used flaskmpeg to create a 17mb .avi file from an 82mb Mpeg 1 file and it looks great it took about twenty minutes to encode. It runs for eight minutes and the audio is also fantastic using the lame encoder.
However when I try to do the same in

How is 6 channels coupling made?
Hello all, I'm using the directshow filters by Tobias. Yes I know they are not
supported here :)
The vorbis encoder (I really mean encoder, not decoder) by tobias works good in
2 channels mode, but with 6 channels it exchanges the order of channels while
encoding. The front center goes to the front right, and the like.
I have reported the problem, but Tobias gives no signs of life. I want to
