anyone from Joplin, MO
I'm trying to convince my employer to deploy an Asterisk based system, but
one member of the leadership team is against it. The rest of the team is
for it, but he's convinced them that we should find other organisations in
the Joplin, MO area who are using Asterisk first because, "we don't want to
be the first in our area." I can't fathom how that's relevant, since

which gcc package?
Hello.
I tried to compile a program (plugger), but I don't have *any* sort of
compiler installed. This is on Cent5.3.
So, I used Package Manager, concentrating on gcc. But, it seems that I
have a choice, thus:
gcc-4.1.2-46.el5.i386
gcc-4.1.2-46.el5_4.1.i386
gcc-4.1.2-46.el5_4.2.i386
gcc-c++-4.1.2-46.el5.i386
gcc-c++-4.1.2-46.el5_4.1.i386

building zip?
Hello,
I know this might sound stupid, but here's my problem. I try to build
packages, which gives absolutely no problem as long as I do this in
Linux. I get my .tar.gz-package. However, for windows, one needs
.zip-files (I guess), but for one reason or another, this seems not to
work.
I'm sorry about this question, but I'm not a windows-specialist (nor
Linux-guru). I don't see

Winbind problem with more details.
Everyone,
One of our developers was kind enough to insert some bug checking into the mod_auth_pam and mod_auth_sys_group so that we could see a little more of what was going on with our authentication failures. Here is what we just saw. Two of our users NA\connelmp and NA\guminssa both started getting messages that they were not part of the required group. Here is the log for

Help -- rsync Causing High Load Averages
This is my situation and I am running into dead ends.
We have a server with about 400GB of data that we are trying to backup
with rsync. On the content1 server we had rsyncd.conf as:
[content1]
path = /
comment = Backup
list = no
read only = yes
hosts allow = 192.168.22.181
hosts deny = *
uid = root
gid = root
and on the backup server we had a crontab entry as follows:

AMP or Asterisk
Hi all. I have been using Asterisk for sometime now and have recently come across AMP for the first time. I am wondering if someone could enlighten me a little as to the advantages and disadvantages to using AMP as opposed to the "do-it-yourself" Asterisk? Is this documented someplace?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Monitor a folder
Hi all. Please forgive me if this question is of the "RTFM" variety. I am new to Rsync and just attempting to determine if it will meet my needs with respect to one problem I am attempting to solve.
I have a web application which is running on Apache2/PHP which allows users to upload files. I would like to add a redundant server for load-balancing and failover purposes but need to

Merb, Mongrel+Erb
Hey there folks-
I''m happy to announce the first useable release of my new pocket-
framework Merb. Merb is a mongrel handler with built in controller
and view templating with erb. It has a nice routing system similar to
rails but much simpler. It uses some of the code from the camping
handler and the rails handler and then some of its own secret sauce
to form imho a nice fast

Is there an "off" switch to prepare to repeat a call to ogg123?
P { margin-bottom: 0.08in; }A:link { }
Hi Ogg Fans,
I have a puzzle. When I'm getting ready
to plan a larger program, I often do some little experiments to see
whether what I'm thinking is going to be able to happen in the way
that I anticipate. My next project involves some playing .ogg files
in a random order. I have three brief files which I have used in this
experiment. I am

patch to add device-option to ogg123 rc file
Below is a patch for vorbis-tools-1.0beta4 ogg123.
It adds support for using the rc file (like /etc/ogg123.rc) for
configuring the device-options. In addition, comments can be used (when
they start a line).
My ~/.ogg123rc:
default_device=oss
default_options=dsp:/dev/audio
Please share your comments.

ogg123 --end 1:59 patch.ogg
Hi
Here is another patch regarding time in ogg123 which is more
controvercial than the other one I send some days ago. (see
attachment)
When working with Daisy/SMIL [1] files it would be helpfull if the
user could stop play at a specific time. Currently .ogg files are not
allowed in the Daisy format but that will hopefully happen one day if
I work hard at it.
A clip in a Daisy file could look

Repeat patch for ogg123
Hi,
I have made a small patch for enabling repeating in ogg123.
It adds the parameter "--repeat n" or "r n" where n indicates how
many times it repeats the playlists. Zero in forever.
Apply it if you like, I find it very convenient.

For some reason this didn't make the list and I got no approval

[PATCH] [FEATURE] Ogg123 range playback
A small patch (attached) to the ogg123 source (dec 15 nightly build from
CVS) that implements ranged playback a la:
ogg123 -r 12:10-13:00 file.ogg
to playback 12m:10s-13m:00s fragment from the file.ogg soundfile.
Usage:
ogg123 -r hours:minutes:seconds.fraction-hours:minutes:seconds.fraction
anything can be pretty much omitted (within reason)
[although it does not support hh:mm:ss.hh- ]

AGAIN: ogg123/ogg123.c of vorbis-tools causes error on FreeBSD
In the vorbis-tools of the 20010710 version of CVS snapshot,
ogg123/ogg123.c causes error on FreeBSD: <sys/types.h> is required.
This *HAS NOT BEEN FIXED SINCE THE 20010601 VERSION*.
I would appreciate if you just add an #include line - or let me know
why you do not want to do so.

AIX + ogg123
Has anyone managed to get ogg123 to compile in AIX? I'm got an RS6k with a
PPC 604e, running AIX 4.3.3. I can get libogg, libvorbis, libao, oggenc
(so, everything _but_ ogg123) to compile just fine. I'm using gcc,
thankfully, and not the native IBM compilers. I believe the problem to be
with the linker. By default gcc for AIX doesn't use the GNU linker, but
the standard AIX
