another cool use for the vorbis direct show filter
Hi. My name is Lorenzo Prince. I am new to the list, but have been an Ogg Vorbis user for about 6 months now. I am extremely impressed with the quality of the format at all bitrates, and it has become my format of choice for encoding my entire music collection. Well, I just thought everyone might like to know that I have found a possibly undocumented use for the Ogg Vorbis direct show filter.

Speex player for Linux
Where can I find a Speex player for Linux? Is there one yet? I haven't found
one, only the decoder. Or can I just set the decoder to output to the audio
device?
Thanks,
Lorenzo

file couldn't play after Speex encode and decode
Dear sir,
I've a problem that the .wav file couldn't play after calling "sampleenc
male.wav|sampledec male_speex_15.wav".I found that the new file
male_speex_15.wav is smaller than the original file in size.I implemented
the test on Linux system. The original file male.wav is 96044 bytes, while the
new file male_speex_15.wav is 96000 bytes.I'm eager to know the reason.Thankyou!

Pre-compiled OS X binaries?
Stephen F. Booth, the author of a number of audio progs for OS X (sbooth.org), is a subscriber to this list too and he might be able to provide an OS X build of FLAC 1.3.0.
However, I can understand the Xiph policy of only supplying officially blessed versions compiled by themselves. I guess we'll have to wait for 1.3.1...

Ogg Player Code
Hello,
In one of my recent assignments, I was asked to develop a ogg player.
I am not able to find the right repository of the source code. There are few repositories on vorbis but I am not clear which one is the right one for Windows environment.
If somebody has successfully compiled any ogg player ever, his ideas will be helpful to me.
In one of the code set, I was able to compile the

oggdropXPd quality selection problems
To those who have reported having a problem selecting real number quality
settings, could you kindly test the new compile you can d/l from:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jfe1205/testXPd.ZIP and report whether this
resolves the problem.
No major changes, but I regularised a number of type casting discrepancies
that could have been causing a problem.
I'm sorry to have to ask for help on this

AVI stream w/ AC3 5.1ch
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I have an AVI file (~900MB) that I want to convert to OGM format, with a
~ DivX 5 video and uncompressed AC3 (5.1ch) audio stream. Nandub doesn't
want to compress the audio, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend
a (Windows) tool to help. Thanks for your time!

vorbis winamp plugin
Hi
I've developed a player that utilizes winamp input plugins for decoding
audio to PCM. I'm going to include an open source mp3 input plugin,
in_mpg123.dll, and I'm wanting an open source in_vorbis.dll as well.
One question. Since vorbis is open source, would it break any rules to
distribute the in_vorbis.dll included with Winamp? I presume so but
thought I would ask.

Vendor id - vorbis 1.1
The download of the above still shows an id of: "Xiph.Org libVorbis I

Shouldn't this have been updated to: "Xiph.Org libVorbis I 20040920"?

Quality setting Hard Min/Max Bitrate limits in SVN oggenc
This is probably addressed to Michael Smith :)
I have been playing with the latest oggenc and full libs from the SVN
attempting to get the hard min/max limits to work with the quality
settings. The way it is currently set in encode.c does not appear to
work; ie., the result is the same with or without the hard limits set.
However, if I amend the code such that management is NOT turned off if

WinAmp Plugin with HTTP Streaming Support
I finally figured out why I was having so many problems with MSVC 5.
Compiler optimizations were doing BAD things. :-(
Anyway, here's the goodies:
http://www.javasource.org/in_vorbis.dll If you just want the plugin.
http://www.javasource.org/in_vorbis.zip For the source.
If somebody can get a working version from MSVC 6 please send it back to me
and I'll make it available. That

multiple instances? Updated
Hello, A. Craig West,
Well, the files from one folder (call it Blues) go to the blues server
and the files from the other folder (call it Rock) go to the rock server.
both would be given a mount point name depicting the style.

Just because they are in a different folder? What about subfolders??
