Seeking in a saved stream; or, Why isn't that sucker valid?
I hope that this is the appropriate venue for this question. If it's not, let me know and I'll take it elsewhere (perhaps vorbis-dev). Saved streams are great - it lets this norteamericano get his fill of BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix. Unfortunately, saved streams aren't seekable. Running ogginfo on the stream data gives: erial=1626603590 header_integrity=pass vendor=Xiphophorus

ogg123 crash
Hi, I already mentioned this on #vorbis, but thought it good to create a mailthread on it for easier tracking. One of the OpenBSD developers (claudio at openbsd.org) found that ogg123 crashes on his machine with a SIGSEGV while playing tracks with unknown comments in the tags. He's running with special malloc flags that make the OpenBSD malloc(3) extra picky (manpage available online at

oggenc crashes on WAV input (with q > 4.99)
Hi all, I've got a strange problem. I was just encoding a new CD I bought a couple of days ago (Muse - Hullabaloo Soundtrack) when I ran into a strange bug. After ripping track 8, CD 1 with cdparanoia under OpenBSD/alpha, I wanted to encode it with oggenc (latest version from the OpenBSD-current ports tree, (`oggenc -v` says 'OggEnc v1.0 (libvorbis 1.0)')). Here's the output :

Philips && vorbis support
Hi all, A few weeks ago, I sent a mail via the Philips website concerning their portable digital music players (Rush, Expanium, etc.) Below you will find my mail and the response from Philips. As you can read, they have no intention to support Ogg Vorbis in the near future. Perhaps if more of us ask for this kind of support, they will be interested in adding support. So, go to the philips

INBOX as mbox, other mailboxes as maildir
All, I'm trying to teach dovecot to use the mbox format for /var/mail/%u and maildir for /home/%u/Mail/ but I'm having quite a hard time. This is Dovecot v1.0.beta3 under OpenBSD 3.9 on sparc64. I've been fiddling with default_mail_env and also tried separate namespaces, but all to no avail. Here's some of the things I tried : default_mail_env =

Lyrics
Hi all, Is there an effort underway to support lyrics (or, more generic, subtitles) in Ogg streams ? I'd say the best place for such textual data would be in it's own stream (Ogg/Tolkien for all I care ;) with time-indices for when a certain word is said by who. This allows for karaoke style lyrics and for simple full text lyrics dumps. It could also be used for subtitling/closed

Scheduled Ogg streams for testing
Well we're testing scheduled Ogg streaming, but it would be nice to test with an audience bigger then me and a few irc users, so I thought I'd drop a note to the list. http://support.bbc.co.uk/oggstreams.shtml This will contain any scheduled tests to come and anything currently being streamed. For scheduled stuff, only things we're given permission to do by producers can go on

file(1) support for Ogg and Ogg/Vorbis
Hi all, While I was busy sorting out my music collection, I discovered that file(1) had no Ogg/Vorbis (or Ogg/* for that matter) support yet. Is there anyone working on support for this or am I using an outdated version of file(1) ? file(1) has extensive MP3 support. Compare the following : $ file */*.ogg | grep 01 Busta Rhymes - Genesis/01 Intro.ogg: data De La Soul -

Both Rocky Linux and AlmaLinux are in a very comfortable position, and they will likely stay that way. my predict is that they will continue as a #rebuilder / #freeloader, writing software is a hard work. SuSe hardfork will probably be only an

Building vorbis-tools without libao
Hi All, For my new file (and thus mp3) server I've decided to switch completely to Ogg Vorbis. This means having to reencode ~30GB worth of 128Kb MP3's, but i figured that it would all be worth the effort. So I downloaded the sources for libogg, libvorbis and vorbis-tools and fired up my trusty old compiler. libogg and libvorbis built and installed like a charm. Not so for

No, they didn't. That term was bandied about on social media by people who were speculating about the reasoning behind discontinuing the practice of debranding

[paul@mail.me.maar.nu: Building vorbis-tools without libao]
Again, Hi All, Thanks for your replies. I probably should've mentioned that I'm not subscribed to the list but I found your answers on the archives. I just wanted to go on record and mention that I do in fact have all the original CD's and that by re-encoding I meant repeating the entire process of ripping the original CD's (with cdparanoia (of course ;)) and then encoding them

How are you saving this stream to disk? This particular one was obtained with wget on OpenBSD. I've observed the same problem with files saved from Winamp. >I think there is a problem

I subscribe (pay) for a lot of things personally. Music, Movies, Anti Virus, VPN, Storage, etc. But for my business, I do not want to pay Red Hat, Zimbra, or Google Workspace. Why ? Because the general rule seems to be Oh! You are an individual, we will offer you affordable/free service What! You are a business, we will offer you extremely 'unaffordable' service. Because being a

Samba client filesize problems
Filesize problems with samba client on Redhat 9 and W2k machine. The original smbclient did this so I upgraded to the latest, it didn't help. The server is W2k with an NTFS volume, these are video files - the windows software breaks the files at the 2G limit, but for some reason some are reported as 2G others as huge !! One day I might own 25T of disk, but not today. Anyone any ideas ?

About the interaction A:B
Suppose, 'fr' is data.frame with columns 'Y', 'A' and 'B'. 'A' has levels 'Aa' 'Ab' and 'Ac', and 'B' has levels 'Ba', 'Bb', 'Bc' and 'Bd'. 'Y' columns are numbers. I tried the following three sets of commands. I understand that A*B is equivalent to A+B+A:B. However, A:B in A+B+A:B is

trouble compiling vorbis 1.0 on openbsd
Compiled libbogg and libao using ./configure; make Then moved to libvorbis source folder Installed libtool (1.3.5p3), autoconf (2.52) and automake (1.4-p5). gnu make is also there (3.79.1) i had to create a link for autoconf as after install it was installed as /usr/local/bin/autoconf-new so i added a link from it to /usr/local/bin/autoconf output from ./autogen is: -- $ ./autogen.sh
