AW: VorbisExt prerelease
Hi Warren,
is this shell extension able to modify multiple ogg files, either each one
after another, or within one transaction (e.g. adding a comment to all
files; stripping all comments from all files)? Or would I have to use the
context menue for each separately?
So long

Announce: VCE v0.1.2
Hello All,
VCE does unicode/utf-8. I recommend all users to upgrade as it now handles
extended characters correctly.
There are now two binary versions of VCE. There is an NT version (for
Windows NT/2000) and a 95 version (for Windows 95/98/ME). They will
eventually be merged into one executable again. Download the appropriate
file for your platform.

VorbisExt 0.3.0pre
Hello All,
I have made VorbisExt 0.3.0pre available for your use. It can be downloaded
from http://www.ozemail.com.au/~spitsw/VorbisExt/. It is not officially
released yet.
It now has a 'simple' mode that is like the winamp plugin editor. The
'advanced' mode is just like the current interface. You can toggle between
the two modes with just one click.

Is comment order meaningful?
The spec seems to be unclear on this: should two comment haeders who only
differ in the order of comments be considered equevalent?
VCE shows comments in the order read and allows to store them in any order
(it has move up/down buttons). Comment editors with a fixed layout (like
the commmon TITLE/ARTIST/etc. fields in PP's winamp plugin) don't show the
order and give no control of it.

Announce: VCE v0.1.1
Hi All,
I have released VCE v0.1.1. It is primarily a bug fix/cleanup release. I
recommend all users to upgrade (It's only a 50k download).
VCE is still lacking UTF-8 support. This is planned for the next release. I
have already got UTF-8/unicode working on my Windows 2000 box. I just need
to get Win 95/98/ME to work.
VCE needs an icon. If anybody has a good icon, design, or idea please let

I'm trying to write comment writer thing for zinf, because I love the
program, but it doesn't fully support ogg. I've found how to read
comments, but can't figure how to write them. There has been some
discussion about this previously in the archives, but I couldn't find
any specifics, only references to code not posted to the list. The
api documentation page is (painfully)

Encoding in 6 channels: HOW?
After i figured out that it's possible, How do i actually encode an
.ogg with 6 channel sound?
Let's say i want to rip my DVD to DivX 5.02 and i want to use the
almighty ogg vorbis as the sound format.

Winamp plugin not recognized at all
I happily downloaded the official beta4 winamp plugin as well as Mattew's
versions with VCE interated and with/without the dialog. When I installed
it winamp (v2.72) didn't recognize it (no vorbis plugin listed in the
config, doesn't play ogg files) - same for all of them. I recompiled it
myself from Mattew's source with vce - same results.
It does recognize the old plugin when

OT: WinNT(2000) player to open files with unicode names?
Sorry for posting somewhat off-topic...
Most my music files have names in hebrew (FAT32 partition). I dual-boot
between a hebrew win98 (where these files are opened nicely by winamp,
freeamp and any other program) and a hebrew win2000, where windows media
player is the only program I've seen so far to open them. All others say
"can't open file ???? ?? ???.ogg" (or .mp3) - both

Using a CBR when encoding to *.ogg
Greetings Fellow Vorbis Gurus!
How can I encode, using CDex, at a CBR (constant bit rate) rather than the VBR?
Also, can one take a 128kbs MP3 file and re-encode it to ogg? If so, please
explain the procedure.
By the way, I'm using a Windows based system.
Thank you!

International Standard Recording Code
Hi!
First, here's some background information: Some friends and I are making
music with our computers for some years now. We release our tracks on
the Internet for free for private use, both in the original module
format and currently MP3. Within the next weeks or months (depending on
the leisure time i get), our web site www.kolabore.de will be vorbisised

Vorbis Comment Editor v0.1.0
Hello All,
I have created a Vorbis Comment Editor for the win32 environment. It is
completely untested and undoubtedly has bugs. That said, it is fairly stable
and functional. It is a simple single dialog based app. I have released it
under the GPL and have made code available.
It is compiled statically with the latest CVS version of libogg & libvorbis
and it uses the vcedit.c routines
