Some questions about Theora IP
Hello Theora developers,
I'm doing some cursory research into Theora's IP status in preparation
for asking Apple to reconsider the possibility of shipping an
implementation. I have a few questions and I'm hoping knowledgeable
people can help out.
1) What are the terms of any patent licenses or disclaimers, and do
they have field of use restrictions or limitations on code for

"Google will soon make its VP8 video codec open source, we?ve learned from multiple sources. The company is scheduled to officially announce the release at its Google I/O developers conference next month, a source with knowledge of the announcement said. And with that release, Mozilla ? maker of the Firefox browser ? and Google Chrome are expected to also announce support for HTML5 video

In creating a postscript file from a set of data in which the points are
plotted
using `points()' and lines drawn using `lines()' I have found since upgrading
from R version 1.4? to 1.8 that the two sets do not coinicide completely. This

legalities of streaming
Hi list,
This might not be the right list to bring this subject up on, however I
thought it might be a good place to start.
What are the current legalities in relation to non commercial music streams,
or more accurately put non profit streams, and is this currently being
seriously policed?
Basically I am wanting to start up my own online station, but I don't really
want to get my butt

Wine article on Wikipedia - details needed

There's a couple of [citation needed] tags in need of a reference. (I
think I wrote the original text being questioned many years ago, but
can't recall the references myself ...)

"net rpc vampire" case sensitivity problem
We just migrated a small network from a Win2K PDC to Samba, using
"net rpc vampire" into a tdbsam backend on a Samba 3.0.2a Linux box.
One of the users, let's call him Jon Harker, had the NT username "JHarker".
When we ran "pdbedit -v jharker", we saw this:
Unix username: JHarker
NT username: JHarker
Well, that looks wrong - the NT

VP8
Patenting a mathematical formula is NOT creating a machine nor is it unique. For example. 2+2=4... apples + apples^2= given outcome. I want to patent this. It's stupid to patent something like that. The same is true for formula algorithms. Algorithms occur in nature. Thus should not be patented. Now, Volley G Mathison inventor of the Electropsychometer had a machine that he could patent. A

OggPCM version / header finalization
I take it you are talking about what is listed under alternative format ?
If you have an implementation... you must have a list of enumeration
fields... could you put them on the wiki.
If we are asking for final comments... the wiki should be tidied up. The
original format removed if the general consensus is that this is more on the
right track... which it looks to be.
Zen.

Monty on holiday
Hi folks,
My wife and I are taking a long weekend to celibrate our anniversary. I won't
be around again until Wednesday to answer email or do anything else on Vorbis.
Yeah, I know, I usually answer my email once a month anyway (so likely no one
would notice me being gone), but just so folks know if anything really juicy
comes up :-)
I'll be merging my latest branch with mainline

Review of Mpeg-4 & on2's vp3...
The site:
http://www.techimo.com/articles/index.pl?photo=33&SID=12&tag=SNnb323
has a review & comparison of several mpeg-4 codecs, and they also
include vp3. (Be warned, it's a very big web page, due to all of the
image examples!)
Not really all that informative, but I thought somebody might be
interested in hearing about it.

Royalty for On Hold Music ?
Hi,
Is there any Royalty one needs to pay when using the inbuilt exisimg asterisk on hold music or when using any other mp3 from a music album.
I think we need to pay for the later, but I am not sure if we need to pay for the inbuilt asterisk(freepbx) on hold music.
