libtheora 1.1 problem? with firefogg and ffmpeg2theora
hi all, i have been trying to export some videos using firefogg in two pass mode. the problem i get recently with various files is that when i choose a low bitrate (for example 1200kbps for a 512x224 25fps video with so many details) the video quality is very very good at the beginning (much better then my quality based -v 5 export which produces a 1204kbps video with the same build) and then

firefogg local encode web-app
I mentioned it in the #theora channel a few days ago but here it is with a more permanent url: http://www.firefogg.org/make/advanced.html & http://www.firefogg.org/make/ These will be simple links you can send people so that they can encode source footage to a local ogg video file with the latest and greatest ogg encoders (presently thusnelda and vorbis). Updates to thusnelda and

Live CD/DVD for encoding?
Hi - I'm running CentOS, which means many of the support libraries are a bit on the stale side. I have occasional need to transcode to theora - but it seems the transcode program, which I have managed to successfully install, does not have theora as an output option. It seems I have to use a program called ffmpeg2theora which I just can not get to build on CentOS - I'm guessing

Black borders on resized videos
Hi there, I've been playing around with Beta 2 of ffmpeg2theora, or rather the macosx build provided at http://firefogg.org/nightly/ Thanks for all the hard work - its great to see some really noticeable improvements. I have one bug to report: upon resizing (down) all manner of content (all h.264, however) I am noticing thin black borders - about 4 or 5 pixels large, sometimes just

oggcat or other ways to combine theora videos (with or without re-encoding)?
hi guys, first of all, i'd like to ask if there any crossplatform software/service ( gui is also better, an online application like firefogg is great, or at least a command line tools for any platform) to combine theora videos, other than oggcat... i am doing some art projects that people should be able to remix featured theora videos and i find oggcat very usefull in theory but not in

XiphQT / Theora Questions
Hello, I hope this is not an inappropriate list for this. This is the list suggested by http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/ I use Linux exclusively at the moment and do not plan on buying a Mac, but I am working on a CMS including html5 media support. Patent licensing costs forbid decoding proprietary video formats on the server for transcode into Ogg Theora so I am looking for a way that non

We write free manuals about free software and in August (10-15) we will hold Book Sprint (http://www.flossmanuals.net/booksprints) about Ogg Theora. We will write a really good manual (book) about Ogg Theora in 5 days. The event will be in Berlin. We want to cover a lot of stuff, but we hope to get our teeth into at least some of

recommendations for web video bit rates
Hey, everyone. I'm sure this thread will generate some email! Some people are working on a super-easy to use converter for people to be able to convert videos to Theora for the upcoming Get Video on Wikipedia push: http://videoonwikipedia.org/ (Note that this isn't being pushed yet, and is pre-launch quality!) For the converter one thing we'd like to be able to provide is a set

Fwd: Theora developer question.
Hi Beorn, 1. replace "-v 7" to "--optimize --two-pass --soft-target -V 2000" you will get about 200MB file size with no changes in quality. 2. try to use libtheora ptalarbvorm, it is in alpha state but has some improvements. You can find comparison here: http://people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/demo/theora/demo9.html if you use ubuntu 10.10 you can download precompiled libtheora and

less change, lower bandwidth demands
Hi all, First of all kudos to all the developers for taking the efforts to make theora (an open video format). I am helping a group of people to get some uncompressed .avi's transcoded/encoded to .ogg theora. I was just reading something about the .flv format (the one which is used in youtube) "In .flv files the less change there is, the lower the bandwidth demands &

Theora Workshop
Hi All, Firefox 3.1 will be released in a couple of months and I still feel we need a strong knowledge base to leverage a widespread use of Theora. While working on the Firefox in Motion video I've been looking for some kind of comprehensive documentation, but the best I could get was answers of the community here (thank you again). Theora will not become a standard if people have to err and

Are two passes useful in CBR mode ?
Hi, I try to use the video tag to post videos on my blog I'm using ffmeg2theora to transcode videos in theora Resolution of 320x240 pixels and constant bitrate (CBR) of ~400 kbps seems to be ok for publishing on my blog. I've read that CBR is a better choice than VBR for web publishing regarding the way TCP/IP works. ("In TCP it takes a while for a connection to increase its

theora and videopress
Hi all, In order that theora is the default, there is need for more and more tools and sites to support it. In that area I came across videopress in my web wanderings. http://videopress.com/ which is supposed to be a 'complete video solution' for putting on the web. I also saw that videopress has a plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/video/ The fact that the plugin

Merging Ogg streams whilst updating the Skeleton?
It's well possible there are bugs. I don't know when the code was last updated. Also, I am not sure if there are command-line parameters to set the role - I would think there are. I don't actually have these tools in use right now, sorry. I hope somebody else can help. Silvia. On Sun, Aug 24, 2014 at 5:21 PM, Nick Burch <ogg at gagravarr.org> wrote: > On Sat, 23 Aug 2014,
