can't demux with ogminfo / need to re-pac OGV to MKV
Hello,
I need to demux video files created with ffmpeg2theora 0.28+svn18147
I have ogminfo v1.5
and getting this error
(ogminfo.c) OGG stream 1 is of an unknown type (bad header?)
(ogminfo.c) OGG stream 2 is of an unknown type (bad header?)
(ogminfo.c) (a1/serial 1092562206) Vorbis audio (channels 2 rate 48000)
Is possible, that ogminfo is older then ffmpeg2theora ? Or what can be the reason?

OGG/OGM media container
Hi all,
Xiph aims at developing open-standards media formats. Though xiph.org
tells about vorbis/theora/flac/speex, nothing is mentioned about container
to use (that is ogg/ogm). I have a few questions
Is there a difference between ogg and ogm? I guess its only the extension
that is different and everything else is same.
Some tools (like ogmtools) are available to create ogm files. What is

File size comparisons
Hi all,
I just did a brief test with 3 different codec combinations:
1) ffmpeg sorenson/flv, mp3 audio in flv container
2) ffmpeg h264/vorbis audio/matroska
3) ogg/theora/vorbis using encoder_example
Here are the results:
10721201 2010-10-16 14:46 origem1.flv
20731108 2010-09-13 23:04 origem1.mkv
33101703 2010-10-03 11:24 origem1.ogv
as you can see, flv wins hands down, and it doesn't look

What if, at least for Windows, someone wrote a simple application which when
associated with .ogg files and an .ogg file was opened simply read enough of
the ogg stream to identify the type of content and then

Theora file extension
Theora and Vorbis both uses same extension .ogg. I know ogg is a
container, just like avi. But in my opinion video and audio files should
have different extensions (using .ogv can be a nice idea).
To a media player it doesn't matter what extension a file uses, but to a
human who does a ls in a directory full of media files having different
extensions will help a lot. I know one can use file

AVI Theora?
Hello,
It's been a little while, but I've got some new info. I've tried doing this with Mencoder, ffmpeg, VLC player, and AVIdemux. None work. When I try to either convert a theora(ogm/ogv) file to AVI, while using?variations of "-vcodec copy" to keep theora comression, or just compress an AVI with Theora, it does one of several things, depending on settings and the program

OGM and GStreamer
Hi All!
I have some troubles with OGG and GStreamer:
1) When I parsing ogg file with ogmdemux element, I recieve (in
"pad-added" signal callback) video pad as "application/x-ogm-video", but
not as "video/something". And that why I can't link It to the oggmux
element and write new OGG file :(
2) I'am using "playbin" to play media file, but It

OGM and GStreamer
Well, actually most OGM files do have a subtitle track, often in
multiple langauges.
Also, re 2. Keyframe seeking in OGM is generally a bit rough because ogm
files can contain almost any codec as the video track, usually xvid or divx.
re 1. As a general rule you shouldn't be trying to make any more ogm
files :) So chances are the ogg muxer is not accepting the connection,
because it

Muxing a52/ac3 and Theora
Is there a program currently available that will correctly mux a52/ac3
streams and theora streams into an ogg container? I've tried
oggzmerge, and it will mux ac3 into ogm and correctly create a new ogm
from an existing theora file, but it doesn't seem to put the two
together correctly.

python bindings to libtheora
Hi,
in the past two days I wrote Python bindings to libtheora:
http://github.com/certik/python-theora
Currently it can read any ogv file (that seems to work quite well) and
also encode to ogv (this mostly works, but there are some subtle
issues to be fixed, I suspect I still have some bug in the way I half
the dimensions of the Cb and Cr planes, so when you read ogv and write
ogv, the resulting

Misc: handycam raw to ogg / DVD to ogg
Hi,
I have two questions
1) How can I convert a raw miniDV file to ogg? I have made a
continuation to the conference I organised two years ago on
gravitational waves Astrophysics and Relativity and I have a lot of
miniDVs to be converted to ogg. I think I have seen the information
before but, after looking for some one hour, I have given up. And, by
the way, do you know how to dowload the file

OGM Container?
In many countries, a movie contains three parts: video, audio and
subtitles. An OGM container supports all the streams, and it's
possible to add another audio or video stream to it with ogmmerge.
That is the difference between OGG and OGM.

Suspected GPL violation by Erightsoft "super"
Hi guys,
the SUPER codec by Erightsoft
http://www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html
contains lots of GPL and LGPL code:
mplayer, ffmpeg, x264, musepack, theora,
which they admit and give credit for.
Still, their product is proprietary,
and they insist on it. I tried to get
the source through their forum, but they
of course won't give it:

can .ogg files play with any other codec
if i want to play a .ogg file, should i have the theora codec installed in
my machine...?
is theora the only compatible codec with ogg container format..?
i am using Ubuntu 7.04, with the default player (Totem Movie Player 2.18.1),
it is not necessary to install theora externally.
why is this,
with the totem player they included theora codec....?
or .ogg can be play with another codec...?

Other extension for Ogg Theora then "ogg"
Hi,
The standards for audio and video to be used by the Wikimedia projects
(like Wikipedia) are Ogg Vorbis and Ogg Theora.
The use of Ogg Vorbis files is growing fast. For now the use of video is
still very limited.
The problem is that an audio and an video file looks the same because of
the same file extension. This is very annoying because you do not know
what for file it is when you look at
