VCD tracks to theora
Hello,
I am looking for a way to convert VCD tracks to theora.
I'd rather a command line tool.
What would you suggest me?
I already found I can do that with mplayer, by ripping to yuv and wav,
then using the encoder_example to compress to theora, but would there be
another better way?

videolan
Everyone might be interested in knowing that videolan's cvs tree,
combined with the excruciatingly simple patch attatched, is capable of
playing back chained ogg/theora+vorbis streams. (encoded with example
cvs). For example, icecast video.
videolan has decided to parse vorbis, speex, theora headers with its own
code. There's an ogg demuxer (the file I patched) and the codecs are

Audio CD problem on laptop VGN-SZ61MN
Is there anyone out there who has installed FreeBSD on the above Sony
laptop ?
Both ''cat filename > /dev/dsp0.0'' or ''vlc cdda:///dev/acd0@1 are OK.
If I run ''cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 play'', there is no sound.
But the output of ''cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 status audio'' is alright.
(same behaviour for cd0 instead of acd0)
And the output

VLC only sees a fraction of Speex wrapped in OGG
Friends,
My name is Igor, I am new to this forum.
I have a peculiar problem with my OGG/Speex implementation: I encode a
short PCM stream in OGG/Speex, but the result can not be read by VLC and
MediaInfo <http://mediaarea.net/nn/MediaInfo> reports that the file is too
short (240ms). In reality the file contains about 2.7 sec worth of audio.
Another interesting thing I noticed is that the

oggz-validate, they also play fine in all players.
anyone got an idea what could cause that problem?
i can put up some sample file if

New addition to FAQ
Greetings,
I was on IRC about 7 hours ago and suggested that the FAQ be updated slightly.
Rather than sit on my ass and complain I figured I'd ask a few people, and see
if the idea was worth the time.
Here's what Ive started with:

I'll be adding to it over the next 24 hours - mostly in the area of Playback
and Encoding.

Live Ogg Vorbis/Theora Streaming Software
Hi,
Its been a while since I posted to this list.
I have finished an application to stream Live Ogg Vorbis/Theora to file or
Icecast server for Windows users.
For example, you can stream your webcam/radio station with it. Maybe this
will help make more Theora streams available as there seems to be very
little Windows support.
Some features are as follows:
- Connects to DirectShow Input

can't get to work windows player
Hi! I'm having some trouble with theora in windows, I would really appreciate if you could be able to give me a hand with this.
First, I was not able to build theora in cygwin, because I built vorbis and ogg perfectly, but when I try to run ./configure with theora it can't find the ogg libs, if I use the --using-ogg-path = ... with /usr/local/lib it runs ok, but then it fails to compile

Delayed pages ?
Hi all !
I am experiencing a strange issue with the theora encoding process.
Apparently, when I put packets into the ogg stream, the pages are not returned
immediately by ogg_stream_pageout. What happens seems that I get several
pages at once later.
This causes me trouble since then the pages are not properly placed with the
other vorbis audio pages, leading to warnings in oggz-validate,

New theora streaming service
Hi all,
streamnik started a new video streaming internet service (IPTV-Stations). We
have actually started the "testing" period and would like to encourage some
theora/vorbis/ogg developers to test the stream against various players for
any problems.
if you like, visit:

Actually the page is only in german, however we are working on an
international page.

metadata (like title) in OGV?
Hi,
I'm trying to add Title and other metadata to OGV, when encoding with ffmpeg2theora 0.24.
Unfortunatelly, mplayer and VLC is not showing any metadata.
Shall this work with ffmpeg2theora 0.24?
Exist something like vorbiscomment to check / do it with
OGG/Vorbig/Theora?
Thank you,
Jiri

A couple of bugs...
Hello together!
I've found a couple of bugs with current compiz git,
most of them related to the use of KDE and wanted to
let you know.
1. kde-window-decorator crashes every now and then.
This seems to be especially often when starting
kaffeine media player, but not exclusively. I've
attached a backtrace, though I don't know if it is
useful in this form...

libogg++ seeking w/o metric
Hi all,
I started out looking for a multi-stream format, which led naturally to
Ogg. I have been studying your web sites and code, and subscribed to
this list. Eventually we would like to have a multi-stream codec which
would have a discontinuous text component. In the meantime, I am working
on running the transport/en- de-capsulation on a separate thread, and
possibly with each codec on a
