Chroot Install
Good Morning,
I want to update my CF-Microdrive for my router with CentOS (currently
there is Slacky on it). I have attached the microdrive to my notebook
using a pcmcia CF adapter. Within my CentOS installation the drive is
detected correctly as ide_cf and all partitions are shown.
But as the installer does not ship the necessary modules for a pcmcia
ide installation i am searching for a way to

Any Zaurus users??
Just wondering if there are any Zaurus owners out there using there
zaurus as a voip phone?? I'm trying to decide which on to buy. The
sl-6000 is perfect for phone use from what I've read, but it's not very
pocket friendly (http://www.sharpusa.com/images/hpc_SL6000_pic1.jpg)
The clamshell models
(http://conics.net/shp/pda/zaurus-sl-c700/sl-c3000.html)
are much nicer but would

I have compiled R-1.2.2 for arm-linux (iPAQ) on the skiffcluster, an ARM
compile farm accessible at

lossless codecs in wireless headphones.
Hey,
just came across this article.

.
Many of you would be already aware of this. It mentions flac also. i feel it
is a good segment(stereo wireless headsets over bluetooth) to push flac
given very light decoder and using encoder at low compression(to reduce
complexity). Though very less is

H.264 *Not Patented*
The H.264 codec patent by Qualcomm has been ruled invalid by a San
Diego Federal jury:
http://www.eetimes.com/news/semi/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=197001066 .
That means that H.264 codecs can now be written, distributed and revised
freely under any license their authors choose, including GPL, public
domain, or any other, and $free now that royalties are no longer
required.
How does H.264

Do i (this time) need hosts?
Two legged 1.4.2 firewall
zone nwl is eth0 (192.168.221.0/24 ($FW on .205))
zone jvc is eth1 (10.200.47.0/24 ($FW on .253))
Lets suppose i need to allow traffic from nwl to "jvn" which is 10.200.0.0/16
(yes, i do realize that they overlap) and route that traffic to 10.200.47.254?
The router upstream from this one routes 10.200.0.0/16 -> 192.168.221.205 and

Thank you from a new user
Ladies and gentlemen,
A few days ago I was looking for a new radio for my '89 Isuzu Trooper
which I just rebuilt. Crutchfield is my goto supplier of audio equipment
and, much to my surprise, there is a JVC KD-X31MBS which will play FLAC
files. It is on my Christmas list.
So I am using Audex in OpenSuse 13.1 to rip my CDs. I am tired of the
windows software I was using truncating the mp3

Apple iPod
If you haven't seen, Apple has just announced a portable mp3 player (iPod)
Can't find anything with a cursory search at Apple's Development Center
(developer.apple.com), but I wonder if it can be upgraded to support
Vorbis...and what it would take. Prelimenary thoughts? I know this is a
topic that comes up over and over again on this list, but with Apple

Multiple tracks per file, or continuous audio support
Alright, I'm trying this message again. I'm receiving
tons of traffic on the Vorbis list, but so far my
submissions have been silently rejected.
I'm very concerned about a serious usability feature
lacking from the current MP3 spec, and possibly from
Ogg Vorbis. It has nothing to do with bitrate, but
everything to do with quality.
I listen to progressive rock and live albums quite

Support for layers and alpha channel?
First of all congratulations on reaching alpha status.
I was wondering if you people are implementing multiple layer support
into the codec. I don't know if it should be in the container (ogg) or
codec (theora) but perhaps the syncing requires at least support in the
codec.
For example a commercial: a cup of hot chocolate with steam escaping.
Little action, low bandwidth. Then comes the

On Topic: Cheapest Asterisk USB Key? (was: Re: Off Topic: Open Source USB Softphone)
Here's a flipside of this subject: what is the absolute cheapest Linux
device that can be connected to a PC's USB port? That has just enough
power for a minimal Asterisk server running on it. The Asterisk just
maintains a CDR database on its Flash memory, which it periodically
submits over the PC's network connection with an HTTP hit on a remote
full-service Asterisk server? No call

Problems getting nouveau to work with either Geforce GT710 or Geforce 9800GT on ARM Cortex-A9
Sorry for alI these individual emails, but I think is more readable
this way, by having each independent information in a separate email.
I also have these additional cards that I can try: Gefoce GT 1030 and
Geforce GTX 1050 Ti.
I have tried Geforce GT 1030 and it is working nicely but without
hardware acceleration. Without the hardware acceleration I am able to
get into X (Ubuntu Mate 17.10)

I have tried to install it through WINE with no success as my system

source. Attempting to switch the executable bit through the

Live CD Planning systems
My company supplies me with a very nice HP nc2400. Much faster, more
memory, etc than my old HP nc4010.
Problem is the drive is not swappable, and they encrypt the drive (the
OS is XP).
The nc2400 has a DVD/CDRW and 2 USB 2.0 ports so I was thinking.....
Make a Live DVD with everything I need but map
/etc /root /home and /var/log (and what else?) to a USB flash drive

Re: DSP stamp
Yes, the Theora codec is based on VP3, which is an earlier version of ON2's
VP6 codec. Theora is currently at its alpha 3 release, and is stable enough
to have been used already for streaming live video from a number of
conferences, and for encoding several videos that can be found at
www.theora.org.
Development has progressed to the point that the value of the codec can be
seen. That
