Trying to understand Suspend 2
I am trying to understand Suspend 2 and what I have to do to get it working in Centos 5. There is quite a bit for it at ATrpms: http://www.atrpms.net/dist/el5/hibernate-suspend2/ http://www.atrpms.net/dist/el5/kernel-suspend2/ The later is the kernel patches that they refer to at the Suspend2 website, so I don't have to recompile the kernel? I noticed that over at:

domU shutdown with cx88 crashes dom0
Hi, I've got a big problem with a cx88 DVB card. It is passed through to a CentOS 5.3 domU (dom0 is CentOS 5.3 as well), but when I shutdown the domU, this happens: cx88[0]: mpeg risc op code error cx88[0]: mpeg - dma channel status dump cx88[0]: cmds: initial risc: 0xffffffff cx88[0]: cmds: cdt base : 0xffffffff cx88[0]: cmds: cdt size : 0xffffffff cx88[0]: cmds: iq base

Video Recording
Hi, I would like to record some training/advertising videos, in a similar format to those offered by CBT Nuggets (and others). Essentially this means I need to be able grab real video (e.g. webcam or DV camcorder, etc) as well as what is on the computer screen (VNC Recorder maybe) and audio. In terms of output I would like it to be in Ogg Theora format as these seems to be supported both on

IVTV and xen: silent intermittent failures reading from /dev/video0
[Disclaimer: I realize that I probably won''t get this problem solved as it''s probably an unsual setup. I thought I''d ask, though.] P roblem: ''cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg'' (a simple IVTV test of my hardware mpeg2 encoder) doesn''t work properly under Xen. When this command is run, test.mpg should grow approximately 1MB/sec in perpetuity, and

issue with ivtv & wctdm zaptel drivers (TDM PCI Master abort)
Hi, I'm experiencing an issue with my x86_64 machine containing a Hauppauge PVR-500 (ivtv) and a Digium TDM400p (wctdm, part of zaptel) PCI cards. Independently of each other both cards work fine, but once the wctdm driver is loaded and mythtv tries to record something on the PVR-500 the wctdm driver freaks out. The error message is see is "TDM PCI Master abort" printed over and

FW: zaptel 1.4.0 on Fedora Core 6 x86_64
I tried to test Asterisk 1.4 on FC6 x86_64. I have it working on FC5 x86_64 very good, but since FC keeps updating, I tried to follow newer kernel versions. I can't pass the zaptel compilation. Everything is OK, but when I finished, and tried to load it, allways got module not found when I run modprobe zaptel, and modprobe ztdummy. I already tried to modify is with the sed 1 option but

Anyone using fuse and/or sshfs under Centos 4.4?
Hi A search of google failed to show any prebuilt rpms for sshfs and fuse. I do see that fuse support is in 2.6.14 kernel which isn't a whole lot of help. Before I dive headlong into this has anyone successfully built fuse/sshfs against Centos 4.4. If so would you share your experience? Thanks Daveh

Re: calculating the needed swiotlb in dom0
I just found out that setting swiotlb=128 in dom0 grub.conf allowed me to run my mythtv domU with additonal options to ivtv: in /etc/modprobe.d/options options ivtv enc_mpg_buffers=8 Setting this to any higher value causes a kernel panic. I want to be able to specify options ivtv enc_mpg_buffers=16 enc_vbi_buffers=8 How much swiotlb do I need? Is there a way to figure this out or is it just

Load balancing Asterisk.
Hello! We're looking for a solution to reliably load balance our Asterisk boxes. So far we've been using a hodge-podge of directing different services to different boxes/IPs, but eventually I'd like to consolidate things so we can present a single IP address to the outside world. My question is - how do we go about doing that? I've read a lot of things like load-balancing via

fcpci from atrpm-repop and CentOS5-Plus-kernel
Hi Folks, I have to setup a new server with a fritz-pci-ISDN-card inside. For it the fcpci-Packages from atrpm-repo is needed. Trying to install this package on a machine with the newest CentOS5-Plus Kernel I get an error message Missing Dependency: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-8.1.14.el5 is needed by package fcpci-kmdl-2.6.18-8.1.14.el5 Okay -I have a vmlinuz-2.6.18-8.1.14.el5.centos.plus. I've been using R for several months now, in fact it was my intro to "real" computer programming. It used to frustrate me no end, but lately I've noticed my reaction has changed. Nowadays its much more like "wow, is that cool, or what?". So I guess I've gotten over the hump of the learning curve. Comparing what I now do with R to my previous hodge-podge of

madwifi on Centos 5.2, kernel 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5
Hello, I just installed Centos 5.2 on my wife's IBM thinkpad T41 with Atheros wireless. It looks like I need to install madwifi to get the wireless to work. Our home wireless network uses WPA2 I found the EL5 rpms at atrpms, but there is no madwifi-kmdl rpms for kernel 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5. So, to get the wireless working on my home network, what's the shortest path from here? Install
