CentOS 6-6.3 -> no updates and security fixes?
Hi All.
I've found:
This directory (and version of CentOS) is depreciated. For normal users,
you should use /6/ and not /6.3/ in your path. Please see this FAQ
concerning the CentOS release scheme:
http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=34
If you know what you are doing, and absolutely want to remain at the 6.3
level, go to http://vault.centos.org/ for packages.
Please keep

migrate ext3 to ext4
Hi all,
I issued the commands on a single disk system:
with two partitions / is linux sda1 and /home is sda3
yum -y update
yum -y install e4fsprogs
reboot
umount /home
tune2fs -O extents,uninit_bg,dir_index /dev/sda3
e2fsck -yfDC0 /dev/sda3
That worked just fine.
I then had a different system that is software raid.
where / is linux and md0 and /home is md1
yum -y update
yum -y

Keep CentOS 5.5 from upgrading?
Thanks,
I'm trying to keep CentOS 5.5 from upgrading to 5.6 because of my
issue with the time sync. I thought I had it figured out till today. I
have tried google for help but with no luck. Can someone point me to a
page or link that will give me a good idea as to how to stop the upgrade
but still allow me to update my 5.5 packages?
This is what I tried, that is not working

I forgot to associate inter-site links (all using default), which fixed
a lot though I'm still having an issue.

AD replication issue
I believe the problem is a lack of outbound replication for non PDC
emulator DCs. You'll notice isn't even trying because last successful
was epoch (never) yet there are no errors. Inbound replication for this
DC seems fine.

sssd problems after dc1 is no longer online
Hi all,
I hope that this request for help will be the last one, for a while to
come. Today, sernet support helped my sort out our DC mess, and they did
a great job. However, sssd no longer works, and I hope someone here can
help out.
We used to have DC1, DC2 and DC3. DC1 was the classic-upgraded, first,
'original' DC, and had to be shutdown, unfortunately. So only DC2 and

Filesystem backup?
Hi all. I'm currently having a following problem: I have only ssh connection
to a CentOS 5.2 system, there are two harddiscs on it. One stores the system
(/ filesystem) and the other should be used to help restore the system in
case of first disks' failure. I thought that maybe dump would be a good
utility to make it. But in only works on read-only filesystems. In one
article I've read

Clustering solutions - mail, www, storage.
Hi all.
I am currently working for a hosting provider in a 100+ linux hosts'
environment. We have www, mail HA solutions, as storage we mainly use
NFS at the moment. We are also using DRBD, Heartbeat, Corosync.
I am now gathering info to make a cluster with:
- two virtualization nodes (active master and passive slave);
- two storage nodes (for vm files) used by mentioned virtualization
nodes

NTOP alternatives?
Hi all.
I have currently a task to implement a network traffic analyzer. Some years
ago I've used NTOP for that purpose, I would also like to test some
alternatives.
Which alternatives can you recommend and why?
Thanks ;)
Best regards,
Rafa? Radecki.

Resizing est4 filesystem while mounted
Greetings -
I had a logical volume that was running out of space on a virtual machine.
I successfully expanded the LV using lvextend, and lvdisplay shows that it
has been expanded. Then I went to expand the filesystem to fill the new
space (# resize2fs -p /dev/vde1) and I get the results that the filesystem
is already xx blocks long, nothing to do. If I do a # df -h, I can see that

Good tool to draw server room?
Hi all.
I am currently designing a server room. I would like to be able to draw a
2D (in the future 3D) project. Do you know any tools? Which one can you
recommend?
Best regards,
Rafal Radecki.

[PATCH] Even on Debian, the package containing the diff binary it has been diffutils for two years.
There had been a virtual package "diff" that depended on diffutils, but that's gone in wheezy/sid, too.

XEN or KVM - performance/stability/security?
Hi all.
I am currently building a small test cloud based on Eucalyptus 2.0.3 and
CentOS 5.8 x64. I have a choice which hypervisor to use: KVM or XEN.
KVM is the default in CentOS 6 but I have read also many good things (for
example PV guest machines, isolation between Dom0 and DomU) about XEN.
Key factors from my opint of view are:
- stability (which one runs more smoothly on CentOS?)

FSCK on mounted filesystem (LVM/DRBD)?
Hi All.
I have two running servers (drbd primary, drbd secondary). When there is a
problem with one of them we switch to the second one. Currently on the
/dev/drbd0 (it has /xxx ext3 filesystem directly on it) we have some
filesystem problems (after fsck -n). I would like to correct these errors
but the filesystem should be unmounted first (I would like to avoid it if
possible).
Is there a way

Universal server hardware platform - which to choose?
Hi all.
I am working for a hosting provider in Poland. We are currently
searching for an universal, extensible hardware platform which we
would like to use in our server infrastructure.
The platform should have:
- possibility to install up to 32GB of RAM and at least 4 slots for it;
- at least 6 SATA ports;
- the possibility to use SAS disks;
- at least one 1Gb/s network interface and the
