is there any option like cex.axis in ggplot2?
Dear list,
I made boxplots using ggplot and want to control for x- and yaxis. Using "plot" I can do it by setting cex.axis equally to any size but can't figure out how to do it with ggplot.
ggplot(dat, aes(x = factor(time), y = volume)) + opts(axis.title.x=theme_text(size=8),axis.title.y=theme_text(size=8)) +
geom_boxplot() + geom_jitter(aes(colour = id))+labs(x =

ggplot2 - how to change location / position of wind rose axis labels?
Dear R users,
First just want to say thank you to all for developing such a wonderful
software and packages.
I need to produce a wind rose plot. Tried with packages circular and plotrix
and couldn't quite get what I want. Moved to package ggplot2 and it's going
great. However stuck in how to move axis labels.
I am using the wind rose from the help to learn how to do what I need (code

ggplot - some questions concerning histograms
Hello,
I am a beginner with ggplot and after doing simple graphs (histogram, segments etc.)
some questions came up:
1) I tried to do a histogram, but nothing is displayed although it works with another vector.
I think it is because of the very small values (n=1000, min=1.222e-24 max, 1.890e-20).
I used qplot(variable,geom="histogram")... If do it with the standard plot function it

plot with 2 y axes
Dear R users,
apologies for the total beginner's question. I would like to create a
barchart for some temperature values with the y axis on the right hand
side of the plot. On this plot would like to overlay some time series
data (in the form of a line) for some other variable called Index.
The y axis for this latter variable should be on the left hand side of
the plot.
An example of what I

ggplot2: Controlling line width of panel borders
Dear R-users,
i encountered some problems when trying to adjust the line width of the
axes and stripes in a plot created with ggplot2.
I use the "barley" dataset of the lattice package to illustrate my problem:
library(ggplot2)
library(lattice)
barley[["SD"]] <- 5
limits <- aes(ymax=barley$yield + barley$SD,ymin=barley$yield - barley$SD)

Nested for loop
Hi! Thanks for taking the time to read this.
The code below creates a graph that takes 100 samples that are between 5%
and 15% of the population (400).
What I'd like to do, however, is add two other sections to the graph. It
would look something like this:
from 1-100 samples take 100 samples that are between 5% and 15% of the
population (400). From 101-200 take 100 samples that are between

png with ggplot on windows xp
Hi Group,
I posted this question on the ggplot list and was advised to try here
also. The code
below produces a plot as a png and pdf. The pdf looks great, and I cannot
make the png look this way. I've tried various combinations of
height, width, and dpi, but it has not worked out so
far. Any suggestions to make the png look like the pdf? I received a
response that
the problem does not occur

Nested for loop
Hi Kirsten,
I can run your example code but I can't quite follow your division of sampling. Can you restate the the task? Below is what I think you are asking for, but I have the feeling I may be off the mark.
Set A: 400 samples, draw 100 in range of 5 to 15
Set B: 800 samples, draw 100 in range of 5 to 15
Set C: 300 samples, draw 100 in range of 5 to 15

Nested for loop
Hi Ben,
That's exactly right! Except for each set it's the sample population that
is 400, 800 or 300. I want to take 3 samples, each of 100, where only the
population differs. I can do this separately, but I'm having trouble
putting them all on the same graph.
I'd like to have sample on the x axis (1-300) and estimate on the y axis. I
want to show how population affects the

Setting all rows of a certain level to NA in a factor
Hello everyone.
My task is set certain levels (that is all rows of that level) as missing values in factor B20_A.
Excuse the notation, it happens to be a question number in a survey.
So I thought it would work easily by defining the levels
and their labels using the 'factor' function.

side by side histogram after splitting data by year
Hi everyone,
I'm looking to produce a side-by-side histogram of the number of trips
taken by jays with a particular number of acorns after accounting for
year (year "one" and year "two"). I know this involves indexing first
then creating a histogram but I'm not sure how I'd do this. I want to
explore the possibilities that jays are altering their strategies in

lattice question
I'm creating a lattice barchart based off a pretty complicated data
structure. The barchart comes out quite nice ( thanks
to lattice ) but the problem is that the horizontal axis comes out all
scrunched because the barchart doesn't know that the intervals
of Var.1 are really "associated" with the conditioning variable Var.2.
Therefore, all the intervals of Var.1 are put on

Add Anova statistics in each figure
Hi R Users,
I created interaction plots in ggplot2 and was trying to add output of two way ANOVA models, especially only interaction ( example treatment*control F(XX, XX) = xxx, p = xxx) into figures, but i was not able to add. Would you mind to help on how I can add information into each figure? I have attached the example data and the code that I used for this.

lattice plot query
Dear R Group
I have the following data for which I am trying to create subject wise
lattice plot for a given attribute and product .
though the lattice plot is generated, for some reasons that i dont
understand in each plot the subject panels take a random order, I would
rather want all the plots to display the subject order in the same order
as how i have ordered this particular factor level.

Indicator Species analysis; trouble with multipatt
Hi Ansely,
As Jim points out we really need some sample data to go with the code.
Have a look at ?dput which is the best way to supply sample data here or have a look at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5963269/how-to-make-a-great-r-reproducible-example and/or http://adv-r.had.co.nz/Reproducibility.html for some general suggestions on asking questions here---including discussions of using
