AsciiDoc and R
I would like to learn AsciiDoc. Is there any good examples how to use
AsciiDoc with R? I know that there is packages called ascii to do
this, but it would be nice to see some examples how AsciiDoc works
with R. Is there an AsciiDoc distribution for Max OS X?

How to rbind list of vectors with unequal vector lengths?
Hi,
How to rbind these vectors from a list?:

plot circular histogram
In conducting studies of animal orientation and displacement, I need to
produce circular histograms of angles (bearings in radians 0-2pi) where the
centre of the circle indicates very few observations for a given bin of
angles and outwardly concentric circles indicate greater frequencies of
observations for a given bin of angles. I'd like not to have to write the
function myself but I

Help with customizing a histogram figure
Hi all,
Please consider the following code:
require(plotrix)
l <- list(rnorm(50),rnorm(50,sd=2),rnorm(50,mean=3))
multhist(l)
I have two things I need help with:
(1) In the output, there are empty spaces on the x-axis. How would I eliminate
these spaces? I want a nice, smooth, empty-spaceless x-axis.
(2) How could I add tracing lines to each histogram? I am undoubtedly using the

How to recode variables using base R
Hi,
Is there an efficient way recoding variables in a data.frame using
base R? My purpose is to create
new variables and attach them into old data.frame. The basic idea is
shown below, but how to create recoding for A, B and C and assing them
into new variables?
df <- data.frame(A = c(1:5),
B = c(3,6,2,8,10),
C = c(0,15,5,9,12))
df$A[df$A <= 3] <- "x"
df$A[df$A > 3 &

the graph gallery strikes back
Hello useRs and helpRs,
Some time ago, in a gallaxy far away (here is the thread :
http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02a/archive/46532.html ) we
discussed about a graph gallery showing the power of R in that domain. I
did some work around that, and there is a (pretty advanced) draft here :

For instance, there are some of my graphs,

hclust leaf color
Hello everyone,
I wanted to know if it was possible to change the color of certain leaves in a
hclust object in order to make my graph more readable. I know I can color
certain groups but I would like to enter a vector telling the plot function
which leaves to color in which color.
Thanks in advance,
William.

histogram in the background?
I intend to draw a plot of y against x. In the background of this graph I
wish to creat a histogram of the horizontal variable x. Does any expert know
how to produce such a plot?

Plotting contour & filled.contour in one graph
Dear All,
I have a question on overlaying a filled.contour (e.g. on soil properties data) and contour (by elevation) in one graph. Both have the same z matrix dimension. I'm able to overlay both graph, but the plots dimension did not overlap well on the same plots. How can I have both filled.contour and contour on the same graph? The commands that I have written are as follows:

Package for converting R datasets into SQL Server (create table and insert statements)?
Hi,
R contains many good datasets which would be valuable in other
platforms as well. My intention is to use R datasets on SQL Server as
a sample tables. Is there a package that would do automatic conversion
from the dataset "schema" into a SQL Server CREATE TABLE statement
(and INSERT INTO statements)?
For example.

Combined plot: Scatter + density plot
Hi,
in order to save space for a publication, it would be nice to have a
combined scatter and density plot similar to what is shows on

I wonder if anybody perhaps has already developed code for this and is
willing to share. This is the reproducible code for the histogram

how to plot this?
Hi, there:
Suppose I have a couple of data.frames and each one has five columns
(one for x-axis, two for y-axis and two for std of y's.) There is
another dimensions (besides x and y) which is continuous. My question
is, how to plot such series of data frames in one plot (thus,
3-dimensional plot) AND multiple 2-D plots. I am not familar with R's
plotting utilities.
Thanks.

How to use the function polygon()

I am trying to color below of the curves

I tried to use the site: R GRAPH GALLERY

bubble(circle) plot help.
I need help creating a bubbleplot, like a simple pseudo three dimensional scatterplot of circles whose sizes index a 3rd variable. I initially came across this at http://addictedtor.free.fr/graphiques/graphcode.php?graph=73 but the circleplot function does not exist in fbasic as listed in the document.

how to print a data.frame without row.names

is there a simple way to print a data.frame without its row.names?

Ordering several histograms
Hallo everyone,
I want to evaluate the change of the distribution for several size classes.
How can i order these separate histograms with the same y-axis along a
common x-axis according to their size classes. It would like it to look a
bit like this

the quantile regression. I can produce the separate histograms, but have

dendrogram branches with different lty
Dear r-list,
I am trying to visually seperate the two main clusters of a dendrogram.
The idea is to use:
'edgePar=list(lty=3)' for 'dend1[[1]]' and
'edgePar=list(lty=1)' for 'dend1[[2]]'
I have not found a way to solve this. Any suggestions?
