Vignette questions
Context: R2.15-0 on Ubuntu. 1. I get a WARNING from CMD check for "Package vignette(s) without corresponding PDF: In this case the vignettes directory had both the pdf and Rnw; do I need to move the pdf to inst/doc? I'm reluctant to add the pdf to the svn source on Rforge, per the usual rule that a code management system should not have both a primary source and a object

testing on platforms, was Fortran error
I think the poster is interested in being able to try the build/check on a Mac in the fashion that Winbuilder does. That is, rather than have CRAN do all the platform checks, is there a way to submit a package to be tested for just one platform? It may be useful to have such a facility so package builders can test before submission, and from my own experience I believe would help to render

Un-informative Error in re-building vignettes
I am getting the following on CRAN windows and winbuilder https://www.r-project.org/nosvn/R.check/r-devel-windows-ix86+x86_64/penaltyLearning-00check.html Apparently there is an error in re-building vignettes, but I do not have any idea what it is, because all that is listed is three dots (...). Is this a bug in R CMD check? If not, the only solution I can think of is removing the vignette

Snippets from other packages/ License
Hello, I want to use a function from another package (which is GPL>=3), about 20 lines of code, in my own package. I somewhat hesitate to depend on the entire package just for this single function, but of course I want to credit the original authors. What would be the best way to do that? Where should I put that credit? Or should I proceed completely different? Best, Felix

winbuilder down
Dear all, winbuilder is down. Given current inspection results and circumstances, I expect a downtime of *at least* 24 hours. This applies to on-demand check services, CRAN check service results and CRAN binary builds for Windows. Best, Uwe Ligges

declaring package dependencies
I received the following email note re: the vcdExtra package > A vcd update has shown that packages TIMP and vcdExtra are not > declaring their dependence on colorspace/MASS: see > > http://cran.r-project.org/web/checks/check_results_vcdExtra.html But, I can't see what to do to avoid this, nor understand what has changed in R devel. Sure enough, CRAN now reports errors in

R-Forge > GitHub?
Re your point 3: Because you have managed to create a GitHub version of your repository that is not a fork of https://github.com/rforge/ecdat, but its own independent repository, contacting GitHub support might not be the right way forward. Note that https://github.com/rforge is simply a read-only mirror of the complete R-Forge repository (and at least to me it is unclear of whether GitHub itself

Package compilation woes on submission.
Hello, I am trying to submit a new package to CRAN. I had checked the packages with R-devel and R-release in windows 7 local and ubuntu 12.04 local. The package has a C file in src folder which successfully compiled in all the cases (there were few trivial warnings). I had submitted the package last week and was asked to resubmit with few changes in the description file. However upon

R-Forge?
Hello! I have recently found RForge.net (http://www.rforge.net/) by Simon Urbanek and found out today that the site is accepting subscriptions. Great! However, browsing a bit on the site I found a link to another forge: R-Forge (http://r-forge.r-project.org/). Is/will the last one be the "offcial" forge for R packages, given that it has domain r-project.org? Regards, Gregor

URL for a vignette on CRAN?
How can I get a full URL for anything on CRAN? Using Safari, Google Chrome, and Firefox under OS X 10.11.2, I select a CRAN mirror from "www.r-project.org" and get a URL like "https://cran.rstudio.com/". Then I select "packages" and get a different web page, but the URL displayed doesn't change. I'd like to access the full URL of a vignette in a
