gfortran Makefile for windows
Hi all,
(Originally posted to r-help)
I'm porting a package that I've worked on for OS X to Windows.
The package is written in F95 so I need to compile it with gfortran
and link it with gcc4.
I've been trying to build an R with gcc4 without luck so far. If there is
a binary of such a thing info would be appreciated.
This package requires a Makefile. My question is, how can I find

Compile dll in Windows XP
This is my first attempt to call a C function from R. I have installed Rtools,MinGW and Perl and I have included them in my system path. I am trying to compile a toy function that can be called in R but when I type "RCMD SHLIB foo.c" I receive the following message in my Command prompt:

R CMD SHLIB help
Hello,
I have been having a great deal of difficulty using R CMD SHLIB to
generate the .so file from my C file. I am using Win XP, and I have
cygwin installed. I updated to the latest MinGW make files in order to
get rid of some error. But I still get a few warnings (shown below), and
no shared file (.so file) produced at the end.

odesolve dynload example
Hello R Developers,
This is my first foray into using c-code with R, so please forgive my
foolishness.
I had a look at the archives and did not find anything on this, so
hopefully I am not doubling up.
I have tried to use R cmd to create an object file from the odesolve
dynload example.
I am using windows and have just installed rtools, and have the latest
version of stable R (2..7.2).

correct paths to HTML Help Workshop and Inno Setup 5. I also set

Step by step: Making an R package with Fortran 95
To all. I need your help. The big question is: How do I make an R library
with Fortran 95 files? You may assume that I am a pretty decent programmer
in both R and Fortran. I lay out a scenario and need your help!
I know how to make an ordinary R package and have dabbled with R + Fortran
95 *.dll linking. I do not have a great handle on the whole Makevars file
and whatever else I might need

using zlib in a package: problems in windows
Dear All,
I am having trouble getting an R package to build and install
correctly under Windows. In this package, which builds and checks OK
under Linux, I use zlib (among other functions, gzprintf).
As mentioned by Prof. Ripley a while back, the file "CHANGES" under
src/gnuwin32 says explains that to, to use zlib, one has to set
$(ZLIB_LIBS) in PKG_LIBS. I have a Makefile.win with

OK thanks
(I added main() {} as per FAQ and I got the dynload to build a dll ok)
I am also interested in building the R sources as per your descriptions.
To simplify things, I have removed b18 cygwin and have now installed
egcs-mingw32 with your djtools as recommended.
Everything seems to work OK; tools that

LinkingTo for 2 packages
Hello,
One of our packages contains C++ code that needs to be compiled against
2 other packages. So the LinkingTo field in DESCRIPTION looks like this
LinkingTo: FLCore,FLash
Both packages are also in the Depends field.
In R 2.6.2, first thing we noticed was that both names could not have
any space between them, althoguh the example in the html version of

building a package under windows
Hi,
I have a package of my own which seems to work fine under linux.
I want to make a compiled version for windows.
(I work with windows 2000 and R 2.0)
I have followed the steps described in the file
readme.packages (in the top-level directory of the binary installation)
and I had a trouble at this step (which aim is not documented):
