Package vignettes share the same environment?
In a package 'vig' R CMD build vig (or tools::buildVignettes(dir="vig") with $ cat vig/vignettes/vig1.Rnw \documentclass{article} \begin{document} <<>>= x <- 1 @ \end{document} $ cat vig/vignettes/vig2.Rnw \documentclass{article} \begin{document} <<>>= x @ \end{document} produces vig2.pdf where x is defined with value 1 -- the vignettes share a build

winMenuAdd misbehaving?
Microsoft Windows R users, I am operating Windows 2000 (build2195) with R1.7. It may be pertinent that I am using a dual head screen with the initial RGui filing the entire area of both screens. When starting R I use the .First() function to add menu items to the RGui interface using winMenuAdd() and winMenuAddItem(). The menus do not display until the RGui window is physically manipulated in

Windows Only: winMenuAdd() problem
Folks: I don't know whether the following is a Windows or R problem, nor whether it is particular to my particular Windows version/setup. So any help would be appreciated. First the problem, then the info. The following code can be cut and pasted into your R session ############################# ### start R ### create a plot on device 2 (which can be determined by dev.cur()) plot(1:10)

WinMenu's question
I am using the Windows menu functions below which will work on the first pass, but if I repeat the same script I cannot get the WinMenuAddItem to work. [BioC] problem loading affycoretools (more details)
Hi again, I have been playing around with the order of loading packages, and as far as I can tell, there's nothing specific with affycoretools that's causing my Rgui to crash (i.e., shuts down and the Microsoft 'please send error report' box pops up). Instead, it has something to do with the order & type of packages that are loaded that add items to the menu bar by

Segfault with too many menu items on Rgui
Hi all, In the CHANGES file for R-2.3.0alpha, there is the following statement: winMenuAdd() now has no limits on the number of menus or items, and names are now limited to 500 (not 50) bytes. However, I can reproducibly get a segfault using this (admittedly silly) example: for( i in 1:5) winMenuAdd(paste("Test", letters[i], sep="")) for(i in 1:5) for(j in 1:24)

vignette index going AWOL
I?m preparing a package (fastR) for submission to CRAN, but the vignette index keeps going AWOL, or at least R CMD check ?as-cran thinks so. I?ve tried several things and gave myself the weekend to think of other things, but I can?t figure it out. Perhaps someone on the list can lend a hand. Here?s one example situation, where I build the index.html file myself and put it in inst/doc/index.html

Bug or feature in winMenuDel?
I just noticed the following in Rgui: > winMenuAdd('test') # adds a menu > winMenuAddItem('test', 'item', 'x') # adds an item to it > winMenuDel('test') # deletes the menu... > winMenuItems('test') # but leaves the item behind. item "x" Would anyone object if I changed winMenuDel so that it deleted the

Rgui 1.5.1 crashes constantly with the following script
I am not sure if something is wrong with my programming or is a bug of chron or something else. In the following script, db is a large dataframe (dim(db)=c(60698,14)), then I select a very small part for a specific date and compute some basic statistics. date.base is a chron object foo<-function(db,date.base){ date.base<-as.numeric(date.base) #convert to number

running 'make' failed during vignette creation ('R CMD build') on Windows
Hi, This is a follow-up to the problem reported here: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2010-September/058460.html After I updated R-2.12 to 2010-09-13 r52905 on the Bioc build system, some of the packages that have a Makefile in <pkg>/inst/doc still don't build on Windows. For example, 'R\bin\R.exe CMD build adSplit' gives: * checking for file
