'make install' fails on Solaris (PR#13946)
Full_Name: Bob Bownes Version: 2.9.2 OS: Solaris 10 Submission from: (NULL) (164.55.254.106) The sed lines in src/unix/Makefile confuse the grep distributed with Solaris that gets configured by ./configure. Switching from a separator of ':' to a separator of ',' fixes the problem. 76,77c76,77 < @$(SED) -e "s:@rhome:$(rhome):" -e

R-2.5.0 and unlink/wildcards
It seems unlink doesn't work with wildcards in 2.5.0. I've tried R-2.5.0 under gnu/linux from source and the Mac binary from att research. Example: > dir() [1] "bgx.Rnw" "bgx.pdf" "run.1" > unlink("run.*",recursive=T) > dir() [1] "bgx.Rnw" "bgx.pdf" "run.1" > unlink("run.1",recursive=T)

Numerical error in R (win32) (PR#8909)
Hi I had observed the following problem in R (also C, Matlab, and Python). sprintf('%1.2g\n', 3.15) give 3.1 instead of 3.2 whereas an input of 3.75 gives 3.8. Java's System.out.printf is ok though. > round(3.75,1) [1] 3.8 > round(3.15,1) [1] 3.1 Similar outcome with sprintf in R. However, the right answer should be 3.2 Regards Teckpor [[alternative HTML version

C macros and Makevars/package building
Hi We are currently embedding a rather large C++ library in R (BioC), and we want some comments on the portability of how we have approach this. First of, we are not really able to do much about the portability of the basic library, which of course is the main question :) We have an approach which seems to work, I just want a bit of feedback on it.... The way we integrate it into R is

R (2.9.0 rc) CMD INSTALL will leave OOLOCK folder even if installation succeeded
Hi, since a couple of days ago I see failures when using R CMD INSTALL -l lib path-to-src/pkg.tar.gz This occurs in automated library updating via a shell script and is caused by the immediate preceding call to leave an 00LOCK folder even though the package installation of that call succeeded. This occurs at random (no obvious/systematic correlation to package name or or such) and only for

make check failed on linux-amd64 using PGI compilers
Dear R-help, I am trying to build R-2.2.0-patched (2005-11-07 r36217) on the head node of a Scyld cluster (dual Opteron 250s) using PGI compilers (v6.0). I used the flags suggested by Jennifer Lai on R-devel (taken from R-admin, except that I had to add -L/usr/X11R6/lib64 to LDFLAGS). The build went fine, but make check-all failed when running tests/Examples/graphics-Ex.R, at: > plot(1:2,

abline() or predict.lm() when log="x"
Hello, I'm trying to plot a fitted lm() line on a plot when the one explanatory variable is log transformed and log="x". I get different lines using abline and predict.lm(). #Example x <- 1:100 y <- rnorm(100) plot(y ~ x, log="x") abline(lm(y ~ log(x))) lines(x, predict(lm(y ~ log(x))), lwd=2) I'm sure I'm missing something but could someone tell me which
