possible tcltk event loop problem
Dear list members, Rich Heiberger reported to me last week that the Messages window in the Rcmdr GUI was freezing -- that is, messages posted to this window didn't appear -- under Windows and R 2.8.0. I was able to confirm this problem on three Windows systems, one using Vista and the other two XP. In each case, I used R 2.8.0 and Rcmdr 1.4-4 (the current version). The problem doesn't

Private environments and/or assignInMyNamespace
Dear DevelopeRs, I've been struggling with the new regulations regarding modifications to the search path, regarding my Rcmdr plugin package RcmdrPlugin.DoE. John Fox made Rcmdr comply with the new policy by removing the environment RcmdrEnv from the search path. For the time being, he developed an option that allows users to put the environment from Rcmdr (RcmdrEnv) on the search path,

Problems with Rcmdr and BiodiversityR
Dear all, I run R 2.7.2 under Windows and integrated BiodiversityR sucessfully into the R commander. Most functions of BiodiversityR run but others (like "analysis of species as response") produce blank windows and the message: Error in get(x, envir = RcmdrEnv(), mode = mode, inherits = FALSE) : Variable "operatorFont" nicht gefunden What's wrong? Best regards, Frieda

R-Commander plug-in difficulties
Hi All, I have recently created an Rcmdr plugin package and it passed all the checks and was uploaded to CRAN. I then downloaded it from CRAN and tried running it from my local R program and received this error: ... Error in f(libname, pkgname) : could not find function "getRcmdr" Error in library(pkg, character.only = TRUE) : .First.lib failed for 'RcmdrPlugin.MAc' In my

Problem with geometry manager in TclTK
Hello, everyone. I have the following problem with TclTk: I create some windows and want to change their position with geometry manage (sometimes they will be centered, sometimes not). If the toplevel is created and its dimensions are gathered via 'tkwinfo', I get (usually) correct values. However, if this window is created by a function (in the following example, by 'ask.format')

Windows, OSX and Linux: updating a graphic device and double buffering
Hello there, I'm struggling with the base graphics system on different operating systems. I would like to get an animation effect by re-plotting with the plot function. See the attached code example: move the slider quick from one side to the other. I experience different levels of success, depending on which OS I use. - Linux (Ubuntu >9.10, R 2.9.2-3): Each plot command gets

SciViews-R_0.8-9 Console problem
Dear R users, I successfully installed SciViews the other day. However, when I try to run it now, the command/script window does not appear. Strange. Well, actually I see a tendency to a script window (in the lower part of the sciview window where it is suppose to be) during start up, but when the program is entirely open, the script window is gone. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall

R Commander options
I realize this is basic, but I can't figure out the syntax for setting options for R Commander. I'm running Linux Mint and want to increase the R Commander font sizes. I see that there are (apparently command line) options to do so. I have a desktop launcher with the following command line: sh -c 'R_DEFAULT_PACKAGES="$R_DEFAULT_PACKAGES Rcmdr" R "$@"' Can

GUI component Margin on tkcanvas, tkframe or tktoplevel
Dear gurus: I have a question on how to configure the margin layout on tcl/tk GUI objects like tkcanvas, tkframe or tktoplevel. For example, if I want to leave a larger margin on the left side of the GUI container, which one should I configure, the toplevel or tkcanvas or tkframe? top<-tktoplevel() canvas<-tkcanvas(top, relief=, borderwidth=...) I also find the documentation for all

Question about unicode characters in tcltk
hello list, Can someone help me figure out why the following code doesn't work? I'm trying to but both Greek letters and subscripts into a tcltk menu. The code creates all the mu's, and the 1 and 2 subscripts, but it won't create the 0. Is there a certain set of characters that R won't recognize the unicode for? Or am I input the \u2080 incorrectly? library(tcltk) m

last login user tracking
Hello, I'm trying to get last login user tracking going, using Dovecot and mysql. I'm using: https://docs.iredmail.org/track.user.last.login.html and it is working, I am seeing an entry and it is updated, the problem is the last login value does not mean anything to me. I was wondering if it's possible to have the value be of a last login date and time, and also a remote ip would be

tclServiceMode: stop Tcl/Tk from updating
In Windows, Tcl/Tk programs running under the tcltk package can update too frequently: for exmaple, we might go through a long sequence of operations to construct a complex display, and in Windows each addition will be shown separately. To work around this, I've added a function "tclServiceMode" which serves as an R interface to the "Tcl_SetServiceMode" function in the

Some R-Tcl/Tk-BWidget newbie questions.
Dear list, Could somebody who is more experienced with the Tcl/Tk interface from R please help me clarify the issues I've put below with ### --> tags? Several things go wrong, and it's probably because of messy code, but I have a difficult time finding out what is the cause. Thanks very much, JeeBee. require(tcltk) || stop("Package tcltk is not available.") # Add path to
