RPM post-install scripts to update R
Hi, Paul Johnson asked: While I'm on the RPM subject, can I ask an R RPM packaging question? I want the R RPM to install so that post install then R starts and runs > update.packages() as well as install.packages(c("Design","Hmisc","lmtest","car","rgl","effects")) well, you get the idea. I want to add

building a package
Dear R-helpers, I'm learning how to compile R packages with fortran routines and use the acepack source as an example. After some hiccups (Guido told me about the need to set make_mode=UNIX) I got to the following: `make pkg-acepack' runs without error (see below), but it does not * compile any .f file in acepack/src * (hence) try to create any dll file or libs (I'm

strsplit on comma, with a trailing comma in input
I have a comma-separated data file in which trailing commas sometimes occur. I am using strsplit to extract the data from this file, and it seems great except in cases with trailing comma characters. The example below illustrates. What I'd like is to get a fourth element in the answer, being an empty string just like the second element. Is there a way I can express my patter (or perhaps

[LLVMdev] Fedora Core 5 package
The rpm target was added after 1.8 was released so I guess you're not using CVS version. I also made several changes to the spec file which you might be interested in. The current version is attached. Reid. Need help with spec file for Apache-2.4.7
I am trying to build an RPM for Apache-2.4.7-1 on Centos-6.5-i86_64. I am using mock. The are three build dependencies that I am trying to resolve. One, mod_socache_dc / distcache, I have simply removed from the spec file. The other two are arp and apr-utils. Since httpd-2.4.7 needs arp >= 1.4 I got the two latter requirements from http://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/httpd-2.4.7-deps.tar.bz2

error building php spec file
Hey all, I'm attempting to build a spec file of php 5.6.7 - the latest stable - into an rpm. And it's failing with this set of errors: Processing files: php-5.6.7-1.el7.x86_64 warning: File listed twice: /etc/rc.d/init.d/php-fpm error: Symlink points to BuildRoot: /usr/bin/phar -> /home/bluethundr/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/php-5.6.7-1.el7.x86_64/usr/bin/phar.phar warning: File listed twice:

package help clobbers R help (html)
As with 0.62.3, when I install my dse package with documentation in 0.62.4 the html help in R/doc/html/function.html gets clobbered so that the regular R function help is not available. I was postponing a revised version of my dse library install in the hope that this might be fixed. Does anyone know if this is a simple problem that I can hope will be fixed soon, or should I consider a

DSE status
I have my DSE library working fairly well now with 0.62.1. It required a few changes because of the changes to R INSTALL and "xxx<-" functions. I would like to tar up a new version soon but 1/ for testing I have been using a kludge in .First.lib to select the first element of section - since I happen to know that is the element I need given the way I have $RLIBS set. debian packages and html help on linux
I have a fresh installation of R from debian unstable packages. The html index found in /usr/lib/R/doc/html/index.html works in Mozilla and under the link of 'packages' on this page I have a list and corresponding links. However, it appears that not all packages I have installed from available deb files via apt-get, will get their link updated to this package index. Specifically, from

[LLVMdev] Fedora Core 5 package
There doesn't appear to be an rpm target in the Makefile. My spec file is derived from the included spec file however it did not honour the DESTDIR, hence the changes.
