Dear R users, I was trying to install the package RXLisp by Duncan Temple Lang on a MDK 9.1 Linux machine running R 1.8.0 installed from a RPM. Unfortunately I had a problem loading the shared library into R. Since I'm a Linux newbie I was not able to solve the problem. Maybe some of you can help me. First of all I downloaded the source archive for Xlisp-Stat and for the RXlisp package.

The package tkrplot now works in OS X (Jaguar). The core of the problem is that the load function in tcl does not accept bundles, but needs dynamic libraries (I verfied this using the native version of tclsh and Wish). After the recent discussion about future direction of the Mac OS X port, I was toying with the idea to make R a proper Mac OS X framework. There are several advantages: OS X locates frameworks automatically, therefore any program wishing to link against R has only to specify "-framework R" at link time.
