lattice problems under Win2K and R-1.4.0
I'm having problems copying and saving lattice graphs using R-1.4.0 under Win2k. It seems I've see this alluded to recently in R-help. If I do the following example: > data(quakes) > xyplot(long ~ lat , data = quakes) And then try to copy or save the graph as either a metafile or bitmap or if I use any of the bitmap/metafile devices via (for example) >

RE: Gnuserv, NTEmacs, Windows 2000 and R
The following becomes more and more a topic for an R mailing list, possibly R-devel. R for Windows crashes are important and should be discussed and debugged with the experts -- which are not reading ESS-help AFAIK. I'm running a windows program, some kind of medical assistant software. It is using it's own local database, and everithing is stored in files so there is no problem with that. The program works, but I've experienced big trouble getting it to show correctly the cyrrillic symbols. building packages on windows
Has anyone had success building a package on a windows machine? I am trying the following command with no luck (perhaps my flags are incorrect?). At this point I am stuck. Any help greatly appreciated. Niels Waller (BTW - I have no idea why it cannot find sh.exe since I have it is a directory that is specified in a path statement) H:\R\bin>rcmd build --binary --use-zip h:\taxon2 * checking

Can't install "e1071"
I observed the same behavior as Edward this morning with R-1.2.2 on Red Hat Linux 7.0. There appears to be a problem with the library in netpbm-9.5-5, even after hunting down the missing shhopt.h that pbmplus.h is looking for. I worked around the problem by compiling e1071 without pbm support (moved pbm.c to pbm.c.bak). Matt Matthew R. Nelson, Ph.D. Director, Information Systems Esperion

Windows, RCMD INSTALL and path (PR#939)
Full_Name: David Firth Version: 1.2.3 OS: Windows NT4 Submission from: (NULL) (163.1.103.107) Two things that look like bugs: 1. RCMD INSTALL does not seem to cope with quotes in the Windows path. With my path set to PATH="C:\R\Rtools";"C:\R\rw1023\bin";C:\Perl\bin\;C:\WINNT\system32;C:\WINNT;C:\ mingw2\bin I get, for example, C:\R>RCMD INSTALL boot RCMD

uninstal rw1030 (Win9*)
Hi all, I installed rw1031 but not uninstalled rw1030 just to make sure everything was working normally with the new version. After few weeks, I'm ready to uninstal rw1030. My question is: should I use the rw1030 unins00.exe program or could this program damage the rw1031 inatallation (perhaps modifies the registry...) ? Perhaps should I just delete the rw1030 directory? Thanks Dr.

Importing STATA files
I'm an R novice who is struggling with the importation STATA files into R. I've loaded "foreign" and tried the example based on the Swiss file, which works fine. I then placed a STATA file, auto6.dta, in my working directory, which is "C:\Program Files\R\rw1030\library\base\data". The following is what happened: > library(foreign) > read.dta(auto6) Error in

Samba-3.6.1 release IPV6 issue
Dear Sir, I am trying to use the shared files from Windows 7 using IPV6 address. But I couldn't able to map or access it through V6 address, though I can access it through IPV4 address. I tried almost every thing whatever I did find on the internet community. I would be grateful to you if you could help me to make this working. If possible please provide all the steps including

R (D)COM automation server for windows, type mismatch?
Hello! I just started experimenting with the (D)COM automation server for R (server version 0.99, R 1.3.0, Win NT) All the precompiled sample executables work. When I write programms myself, in this case Visual Basic for Applications within Excel, I can attach a graphics device but not a character device. The controls I added to the form by means of the 'toolbox' both originate from

Problem with a if statement inside a function
I have a really long functions, and at the end of the function, I am using a if statement to tag certain keywords based on whether they have certain values contained in them. However, the if statement doesn't seem to work. When I had split up the commands into various functions, it worked fine, but I'm not sure what going on now that it's combined into a single function. myfunc

cram-md5 problem
I just updated to dovecot 1.1.10 from 1.1.2 and now anyone using cram-md5 can't get authenticated. I am using mysql for passwords (in plain text) and home directories. Per some googling I tried to set (in /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf): # SQL database userdb sql { # Path for SQL configuration file, see doc/dovecot-sql.conf for example args = /usr/local/etc/dovecot-sql.conf

Preview of an alternative R for Windows installer
I have built a version of the current 1.2.2 patched version of R using Inno Setup2 (http://www.jrsoftware.org/isinfo.htm). (That toolkit is open source (in Delphi) and was fairly easy to tame. Full details are in the R-patched sources.) This gives a single ~10Mb file, at http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/bdr/RWin/SetupR.exe The idea is that it should look very like a Windows 2000-style install, and
