Patch to wxWindow.h
This patch fixes background color problems (at least on Windows). It
uses the dreaded ''FIXME''
My plan for next weekend is to try building wxPython from the source to
see how they manage to achieve several things with SWIG that we''re not
(yet) able to. If I''m successful it might lead to wrapping a
significant portion of wxWidgets more correctly than

Window.i
Does anyone know if the XRC hand-coded methods in Window.i are still
required after my recent change to return the correct types? Also,
given that wxWindow.h is included all over the place, I think we need to
move some of that stuff out into a common .i that''s included for all
wxWindow descendants.

Patch files to implement AcceptFocus
These files add the virtual function AcceptFocus that was missing from
wxWindow.h. In order to make things right I had to make sure it was
also declared in all the places where wxWindows also changes it. Also,
in wxTextCtrl on Windows GetDefaultAttributes needs to be redeclared. I
haven''t downloaded the Unix and Mac headers for 2.6.3 so I couldn''t see
if it also applies

Re: Problem building wxRuby: htmlproc.h not found
Hi,
Has this problem been resolved?
I encountered the same problem on my FC3 system with wxGTK-2.4.2 and
wxruby-0.6.
Thanks.

embedding wxruby?
Hello,
is it possible to code a wxWidgets GUI in C++ and pass the whole wxApp or just single windows to embedded Ruby code? This would be very nice to provide a scriptable plugin system.
Greetings,
Niklas

Problem with swig?
Take a look at the generated code from ListBox.cpp:
static VALUE
_wrap_new_wxListBox__SWIG_0(int argc, VALUE *argv, VALUE self) {
VALUE arg1 ;
wxWindow *arg2 = (wxWindow *) 0 ;
wxWindowID arg3 ;
wxPoint *arg4 = 0 ;
wxSize *arg5 = 0 ;
int arg6 ;
wxString *arg7 ;
long arg8 ;
wxValidator *arg9 = 0 ;
wxString *arg10 = 0 ;
wxListBox *result;

Possible patch for wxCheckListBox.h
I cut-n-pasted the public section from the wxWindows headers. Several
things were missing so it seemed the easiest way to fix it. This fixed
a problem with the way the overloaded new was being handled. This
correctly generated all the versions so that it won''t have the problem
with the non-initialized default parameters. I will admit I haven''t
done serious testing on

Swig generates bad interface to GetTextExtent
Swig''s bad interface generation strikes again. get_text_extent called
with 1 argument maps to WindowDC''s _wrap_wxWindowDC_GetTextExtent__SWIG_0
Since this generates a wxFont that''s not initialized to nil it fails
when calling into wxWindows. Anyone have a suggestion?

Fix for non-centered windows
Two patches here:
First one removes virtual from a function that shouldn''t have been virtual.
Second one applies a typemap to catch GetRectFromChildWindow. For
reasons that are completely beyond me the standard ruby OUTPUT typemaps
don''t define directorargouts. I will take a stab at patching SWIG''s
default typemaps someday so we get this fixed for free on all our

Volunteer requested: Implement SplitterWindow
About a year ago (ouch!), Robert Carlin submitted a ported version of
the wxPython demo/sample. I hoped to include it in wxruby2, but it
relies on SplitterWindow, which isn''t in wxruby2 yet.
I tried to implement SplitterWindow myself, but got such strange results
that I''m thinking I did something wrong. Even though the generated C++
code specified a variable number of

Wx::Window#get_text_extent patch
Here''s a patch to fix Wx::Window#get_text_extent - it requires that the
patches from teh last message are applied, to enable *INPUT etc typemaps.
Roy - though the function works correctly when called from Ruby, it
still causes a crash when called internally when clicking on a Wx::Grid
cell. Saw your message on SWIG mailing list, hopefully someone there can
help out.

Patch for wxControl.h
Hello all. This gets past the problem in bigdemo where it won''t start
the application at all. That was where it was overflowing the stack on
get_label.

SWIG Bug
In trying to add wxTextCtrl to wxruby-swig, I''ve been running into a
problem with the argument conversion that appears to be a SWIG director
bug. It is tied to multiple inheritance, and is related to SWIG
specifically making director''s ''initialize'' take a first argument, but
because ''initialize'' is static there isn''t a self value

wxruby-swig 0.0.13 is up
This fixes the wxRED Mac link error. Thanks to Nick for pointing out
that I hadn''t removed some wxRED code related to an earlier experiment.
Hopefully this one will build on Mac, end-to-end.
I also found and fixed a problem that was causing the crash on exit:
wxWindows automatically deletes the C++ app object as soon as the last
frame is closed. Later, when ruby garbage collected the

Scintilla
wxScintilla already comes with a SWIG friendly header file. I modified
the rakewx and the Scintilla.i file to include it directly from the
wxScintilla install. This means it''s an odd-ball compared to our other
classes. Does anyone see a problem with this? I think it''s best to use
the one supplied with the installation to avoid problems of the header
file getting out of

Object map
I''ve spent a couple hours tracking through the code and reading Swig
documentation to try to find out about tracking C objects back to Ruby
objects. It''s not so easy to do. I took at look at wxPython and their
source is a mess! I wasn''t able to glean anything from them on how they
do it. My current hypothesis is to trap SWIG_NewPointerObj calls and
build a map.

patch for Icon
I just checked out a fresh copy and had to tweak wxIcon.h to get it to
compile on Mac OS X and windows. The problem is with:
wxIcon(const wxString& filename,
wxBitmapType type = wxBITMAP_TYPE_XPM,
int desiredWidth=-1, int desiredHeight=-1);
that signature is only used on GTK on other systems it is:

Patch to 0.0.39
Hi
I''m developing software using wxruby2. At first I tried to use wxruby
0.6 but I couldn''t live without some of those new funky features :)
So, instead of writing my own code, I got a bit sidetracked and wrote
http://rubyforge.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=9297&group_id=35&atid=220
instead.
Seeing as this is my first foray in to the innards of wxruby2, I
