Introduce and noob problem require ''wx''
Dear All, my name is Raoul, this is the first time I post here. I''m a computer scientis and I''m working in bioinformatic''s filed, we have a lot of tools to analyse the data but no good graphic applications to visualize them. So I''m looking for a good framework for my job. I think your motivations on using wxruby are good, most important for me is the

tagged 0.0.37; release plans
Hi I just tagged 0.0.37 in Subversion. I also added a note on the Wiki on how to do this, and how to checkout a clean version: http://wxruby.rubyforge.org/wiki/wiki.pl?Release_HowTo For the build, I''m just about to upload a tarball, and will add a powerpc gem once the compiler''s chugged away. Please upload for your platform as you''re ready. I suggest we announce

announcement
Hi Now we''ve got the download problems nailed, shall we do an announcement on comp.lang.ruby? I can do it if you''re really busy, but Kevin I think you have first refusal as you''re owed the biggest chunk of kudos for getting us this far. re patch backlog: no worries - just clearing the decks before having another go at integrating wxScintilla - but I can''t

install problem
I''m having a problem getting wxruby2-preview working on my Linux system. I loaded wxruby via a gem install and that seemed to go OK. Added RUBYOPT=-rubygems to /etc/environment file and set it at the command prompt and still I get the following when I try to run minimal.rb: [root@www minimal]# ruby -rubygems minimal.rb Unable to load wxruby. Searched:

TaskBarIcon i wxruby2-preview gem
Hi! I would like to use the Wx::TaskBarIcon class, but it does not seem to be present in my installation. I''m using the latest "wxruby2-preview" gem. From browsing the mailing lists it seems as if this class was added quite recently, so I guess it is not yet included in the gem. So my questions are: When will this class be available in the gem package? Until then, do I have

Gauge Problem with XRC?
Hi I''ve just started using wxruby2-preview-0.0.36-i386-mswin32 outsourcing layout part to the external XRC file. Almost everything seems to be fine. Only that I can never retrieve Gauge objects in the main script. What I''ve been trying is something like this: class MainFrame < Wx::Frame include Wx def initialize(parent) super(nil,-1, "")

Installation success, execution failed
Hello, after I wasn''t able to install wxruby via gem (404) I downloaded the file from rubyforge and installed it on my intel mac. No failure the so I tried to start the minimal.rb with ruby -r/r?/ ubegems <path>... This didn''t work so I tried to do it in irb but the same error occured: irb(main):001:0> require ''rubygems'' => true

0.36 problem?
I hate to say this but I have just uninstalled and reinstalled a freshly downloaded wxruby2-preview-0.0.36-i386-mswin32.gem as from http://rubyforge.org/frs/?group_id=35 and received exactly the same error. Is it possible the corrected gem is not yet available from the download site? This is all against a relatively fresh/new basic Ruby 1.8.5 installation on a fully patched XP Professional box.

new crasher on bigdemo
Hi Seems that the last round of commits makes bigdemo crash fairly quickly. Guessing it''s something to do with either the Window or fixmodule change. Program received signal EXC_BAD_ACCESS, Could not access memory. 0x00034fbc in rb_obj_is_kind_of (obj=3825080, c=1839676) at object.c:523 523 object.c: No such file or directory. Any hints? alex

screenshots & wxruby apps
Hi I''ve added a page to the wiki to show some screenshots opf the wxRuby samples: http://wxruby.rubyforge.org/wiki/wiki.pl?ScreenShots I''d like to get some screenshots for OS X to add to this, if anyone could supply them please. It would be nice to show the minimal sample for all three platforms, plus perhaps some of the ones that aren''t included there. Also if

Wx::Scintilla class not defined
I''m posting this for a friend who is having trouble with this and here is his message. "Heya! I''m working on a script editor application, but it''s missing one key feature: Syntax highlighting. Seeing this, I looked around in the sample directory and came across scintilla.rb. I attempted a run, however Ruby reported Wxruby2::Scintilla as an uninitialized

wxruby2-preview Gauge and wx-sugar with SplitterWindow
First of all, just wanted to say big thanks for all the great work on wxruby2 .. I''ve been a user of 0.6 for a long time and its proved very useful over the years. It''s great to finally have a multi-platform, gem installable ui toolkit that doesn''t suck! Secondly, thanks also for wx-sugar. I was drowning in sizers and started to write my own layout library ... but

next steps - public alpha?
Seems the gems and tarball have been downloaded a bit with no reported problems. I suggest we do an alpha release incorporating Roy''s useful recent fixes and announce it more publicly e.g. on the mailing list. It''s not perfect, but again we have made a lot of progress since late July and we should build on it; it was our dev goal. I now personally have to put some effort

Patch files to implement AcceptFocus
These files add the virtual function AcceptFocus that was missing from wxWindow.h. In order to make things right I had to make sure it was also declared in all the places where wxWindows also changes it. Also, in wxTextCtrl on Windows GetDefaultAttributes needs to be redeclared. I haven''t downloaded the Unix and Mac headers for 2.6.3 so I couldn''t see if it also applies
