Notes: This is a nice idea on itself, but not really doable in tinc itself.
What would be nice is the ability to control tinc realtime with some sort of GUI
tool. This tool can then be used for much

Another idea for tinc on windows
Since the lack of code to implement a virtual network adapter driver
(tun/tap equivalent) seems to be the primary roadblock preventing a tinc
port to Windows, has anyone given any thought to the idea of implementing
a very basic pptp server front-end for the tinc code (in place of the
tun/tap driver) whose sole purpose would be to allow a windows PPTP client
connection to connect to it via a

can't get tinc to compile..
Hi Tinc Mailing Group,
I've been trying for some days now, to get tinc up and running.
Could someone please suggest what I could do to get it working.
I've installed Redhat 6.2 onto a pc, and then installed the
latest 2.2 kernel: 2.2.18 from source code (The usual
make menuconfig ; make dep ; make bzImage , etc). I've followed
the tinc instructions for adding the

Tinc doesn't connect
Hi,
I'm trying to set-up a VPN using Tinc 1.0pre3.
When I start tincd I get the following in /var/log/messages.
On the machine that listens for incomming connections:

> Mar 16 17:23:24 vpn tinc[1168]: Ready: listening on port 655
On the machine making the connection:

TINC and REDHAT
G'day,
I've just downloaded the tinc-1.0pre3 and compiled it - it seems to work
fine.
I tried your tinc start script in the redhat directory, first adding the
MyOwnVPNIP = 10.1.3.1/16
VpnMask = 255.255.0.0
to my tinc.conf file as suggested.
But now when TINC is invoked, tinc exits with the following error.
[root@platypus tinc-1.0pre3]# /usr/local/sbin/tincd -n wurley.vpn

Hmmm ... I can't prove that using the CVS code I checked out this morning.
Everything works like yesterday: I can ping the peer but I canot go beyond:

[Announcement] Version 1.0pre3 released
After many months of work, it's finally there: tinc 1.0pre3. Here is
a summary of the changes:
* The protocol has been redesigned, and although some details are
still under discussion, this is secure. Care has been taken to
resist most, if not all, attacks.
* Unfortunately this protocol is not compatible with earlier versions,
nor are earlier versions compatible with this version.

Hi,
You sent your question to me privately. This is no problem really,
but a question like yours could easily be answered by anyone else, so
you should have posted it to the list tinc@nl.linux.org. I was on
holiday for the last two weeks, which is why I didn't reply to you yet

Setup problems, /dev/net/tun FD in bad state
Hi all, I'm following the manual but I get the below error, and I
believe tinc is clobbering my conf file.
I've never set up VPN before, I'm just trying to connect to my work
network from home. All the following is on my work computer. Thanks in
advance for any help.

tincd running, but ping test doesn't work!
Hi Tinc Mailing Group,
I've got Tinc-1.0pre3 set up on two Redhat Linux 6.2 / kernel 2.2.18
servers. It compiles okay, it reads the configuration files okay, it
makes a valid connection between the two tincd daemons. However, it
does not route data from one subnet to the other subnet. I will
describe my setup below, and if anyone can suggest why it is not
working, can they please reply to put

tinc SECURITY INFORMATION - Unauthorized access to VPN
Although we (the authors of tinc) have done our best to make tinc as
secure as possible, an unfortunate combination of encryption and key
exchange techniques has created a hole in at least all versions of
tinc >= 0.3, including the current CVS version.

a tinc daemon, it is possible to decrypt the passphrase, which

Hi tinc list members,
There were some problems with Ivo's email adresses (both zarq@iname.com
and

Hi Ivo,
Hier is een oplossing voor een bugje in flush_queue(), en ook wat andere
troepjes
zoals een tincd scheduler. Dit werkt wat beter, omdat de
