[Question] power management related with cgroup based resource management
Hi, all
These days, I am interested in green IT area for low power OS
So, I have a question about it.
Is there any good idea or comments about power management related with
cgroup based resource management?
I have no idea about that, but it seems to be possible to find a good concept.
And I hope so
Is it some strange question? ^^

Mesa with voodoo3
OK I downloaded and compiled Mesa 3.4.1, the gears demo runs at about 140
fps so thats not looking like real hw accel ;) I downloaded a prebuilt
gears from the dri webpage and I get 1300 fps even after I uninstalled my
Mesa because it did not work together with Quake3 (always told me no
hardware accel available) So I reverted to the libGL.so that came with my
X4.0.2 binary tars. My glide3 is

Put acpi/backlight code into kernel
Hi,
I'm trying to bring devs to support for backlight on nv50 cards for above 1
year, without any success
A lot of laptop (from mac, hp, samsung) doesn't have laptop_panel in hal, and
therefore no support for acpi/backlight..., and no entry in /proc/acpi/video
nor /sys/class/backlight
Kernel team is not reacting, hal team won't fix, devicekit need standardise
i/o...

RE: W2K3 Server Installation fails with ACPI=1 on
Steven,
I found where the difference is, it may be my fault:
My changeset number + 1 = your changeset number.
My 11160 is your 11159, and my 11161 is your 11160.
Attached please see those patches,
Thanks,
Winston,

[PATCH] Add in-kernel backlight control support
Several nvidia-based systems don't support backlight control via the
standard ACPI control mechanisms. Instead, it's necessary for the driver
to modify the backlight control registers directly. This patch adds
support for determining whether the registers appear to be in use, and
if so registers a kernel backlight device to control them. The backlight
can then be controlled via

utils/isohybrid.c #inclusion of <uuid/uuid.h>
Good day, Matthew.
I recently got stuck while building Syslinux as <uuid/uuid.h> doesn't exist
on my system. The #inclusion was introduced in commit
2c3a24e5f4b807ec31595227afa59a818c060ca9. Whence does this file come, if
you please? I'm assuming it is the Linux kernel's, but can't seem to
understand the directory prefix, in that case.

Helix and unrecognised streams.
Kind of an interim release, I have a copy of the Helix/RealPlayer Ogg
plugin working in the presence of unrecognised streams,
<href="http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~ibm21/omd_players/index.html#hxplugin>
The patches won't go into Helixcommunity until I've put in a joint
copyright document (and the stream end strategy patch still needs to
be completed), but they can be GPLed so if

Xiph QuickTime Components project announcement
Hi,
Just to let you know about the new Xiph QuickTime Components project.
It should be of interest to people wanting to use ogg/vorbis files
(and other Xiph formats, as well) in combination with QuickTime-based
applications (e.g. see: iTunes).
The project pages are at: http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/
The first OS-X(ppc) binary builds are out, as well.

.NET tagging library for ogg Vorbis
Hello,
I've mainly finished the native ogg Vorbis tagging .NET library. It already works well for reading and writing the vorbis comments for the files I tested. The library only rewrites the entire file if it has to, and adds 2 K padding in this case so that further changes of the comments won't make it nescessary to rewrite the whole file again. I found out foobar2000 also does it this

summagraphics VNC fix
Hey everyone,
So I followed the online directions for installing the summagraphics tablet support on a Xen Windows XP guest. However, after rebooting the VNC mouse still is not tracking properly. The XP guest pops up a "Error: tablet device not found" message as well.
Has anyone had any success getting the VNC pointer to track properly (I''ve also tried

vcedit/vorbiscomment heterogeneous streams
Hi,
The following changes allow vorbiscomment to read and edit the
tags for the first occuring vorbis stream in a muxed (and
chained) Ogg bitstream, while retaining the renormalisation.
I've tested it on a number of combinations of muxed and chained
streams, using the write comments from file option for
vorbiscomment to rewrite the comment header and then cmp for
binary differences. Seems

xen, iscsi and resilience to short network outages
Hi. Here is the short version:
If dom0 experiences a short (< 120 second) network outage the guests
whose disks are on iSCSI LUNs get (seemingly) unrecoverable IO errors.
Is it possible to make Xen more resiliant to such problems?
And now the full version:
We''re testing Xen on iSCSI LUNs. The hardware/software configuration is:
* Dom0 and guest OS: SLES10 x86_64
* iSCSI LUN on

Paravirtualised drivers for fully virtualised domains
(The list appears to have eaten my previous attempt to send this.
Apologies if you receive multiple copies.)
The attached patches allow you to use paravirtualised network and
block interfaces from fully virtualised domains, based on Intel''s
patches from a few months ago. These are significantly faster than
the equivalent ioemu devices, sometimes by more than an order of
magnitude.

This bug (Debian bug number 111692) occurs with filenames that have the

ssh argv[0] support
Right - I know you've had a discussion about the argv[0] stuff
already, but I've written this simple script to simulate the (now
missing) support for Debian, and was asked to send it to you...
--- ssh-argv0 ---
#! /bin/sh -e
if [ "${0##*/}" == "ssh-argv0" ]
then
echo 'ssh-argv0: This script should not be run like this, see
ssh-argv0(1) for details'

isolinux: Generate GPT and Mac bootable images
EFI systems typically don't support booting off ISO 9660 filesystems,
even if written to USB sticks. This patch adds support for generating a
GPT that covers the stick as well, with an additional partition entry
pointing purely at the secondary El Torito image. When burned to CD the
secondary El Torito will be used as an EFI boot image, and when written
to a USB stick the GPT partition

[PATCH 1/2] drm/nouveau: unify logging format with DRM core
Change NV_PRINTK() to use DRM_NAME and DRIVER_NAME, making it
essentially generic. Print DRM_NAME in brackets, just like core DRM
logging macros do.
Convert two printk()'s into NV_* logging macro calls.
