[fdo] Linux Desktop Testing Project - Hosting request
Hi,
LDTP (Linux Desktop Testing Project) hosted in
http://gnomebangalore.org/ldtp
About LDTP:
*Problem:*
In windows domain there are many GUI automation tools, which can
recognize the GUI as "objects" and not just with co-ordinates.
Unfortunately, Open Source Linux GUI automation tools are not matured up
to that level - at least to my knowledge ;) . Without this advancement

[fdo] Is it good place to announce about new projects?
This question appeared after i noticed, that huge amount of projects, most of
which was not known to me before, have own lists.
Before that i registered in xdg list thinking, that it is good to announce new
projects (i even sent ther posts about two tools ? window-docker and
fdopenres). They are too small imho, to dedicate lists for them, and as for
first ? i don't know, what is better

[fdo] Hello from GUL UC3M
Hello.
I'm from a Linux User Group in Madrid, Spain. We are planning to
organize a series of speeches on November 14th. We would like someone
from Freedektop to hold one, about whatever you feel feel like (what
is Freedesktop about, xdg, X servers...). Are any of you interested?
Maybe this is not the best place to ask, but I've not found any other
contact address. Is there is a better

[fdo] keyboard, keys editor on linux, write unicode without IME ?
Hi,
Before starting, I must say that I haven't change my Linux OS (Mandrake 8.1)
for 3 years. So, I dont't really know if there were a big evolution until
now.
I don't know if there is a possibility to edit keyboard on Linux
(libxklavier ?...).
If not, it should be launch by freedesktop.org. If yes, it should be a word
about this.
In this editor, there would be a list of all existing

[fdo] config files for keyboard layouts
Hi,
I've noticed that there are now lots of different files that
determine keyboard layout:
1) xorg.conf
2) Gnome's gconf files
2a) A user local one
b) System global one (used for new users?)
3) KDEs config files
a) User local one
b) Is there a system global one somewhere?

[fdo] $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/vcsd/config.d vs $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/vcsd.d
Dear all,
I am wondering if there are any best practices when you need a
subdirectory in a program's config namespace. Basically, I have two
choices:
$XDG_CONFIG_HOME/vcsd/config.d
$XDG_CONFIG_HOME/vcsd.d
I think I am leaning towards the latter, but I would prefer going
after established best practices. FWIW, the latter option follows what
is done in /etc by most programs.

I've been trying to make sense of what I had to do, but couldn't get my
head around some issues.
What would be the most appropriate way for me to talk to you guys

Not the OP, but I will tell you why it is important. GPL, as you know, is
put in place to protect the opensource aspect of the code, and as such
requires the changes be published for modifications that are done on top of

[fdo] Freedesktop sdk aka 'tiny base runtime' project
Hi all,
So i wanted to kick off this mailing list by trying to round up a few
things which have been discussed recently, at GUADEC, in f2f
conversations afterwards, or shot over emails between a few people. It's
been discussed for a while that we want to create a tiny base runtime
with bst. The upshot is this will homogenize the metadata used in the
build process for Flatpak, GNOME

[fdo] where to find fdo logos?
Hi,
I have been looking for the freedesktop.org logo in a good resolution or
even vector based, but I was not able to find it. If someone could
point me to a ps, svg or other vector based version, that would be
great. I saw a vector based version of the logo on Keith's screenshots
of window-level image compositing, so they must be somewhere around
there. If you have the logo in a higher

Thanks!
I shall close https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63808 then.
Out of curiosity, is there a better place to report such things to fdo
sysadmins than bugzilla, the sitewranglers list, and IRC?
Cheers
