rsync bug with --relative and --delete fixed in CentOS5?
Yohoo!
I'm using rsnapshot-1.3.0-1.el5.rf (from DAG) and rsync-2.6.9-1.el5.rf (from
CentOS5) together.
Rsnapshot now starts every task with the "--relative" switch. Without this
switch it will backup all subsequent folders (like /proc and so on) which
isn't desired. So I can't omit the "--relative".
But there was a bug for rsync prior to 2.6.9 that it won't

smartd.conf get overridden
Yohoo!
I have some issues with the smartd in CentOS5/x64
I edited the /etc/smartd.conf for my needs and restarted the smartd with
"service smartd restart". But the start script is overriding my file. I
checked it and saw the following lines:
---------------/etc/init.d/smartd------------
case "$1" in
start | reload | restart)
GEN_CONF="*SMARTD*AUTOGENERATED*"

New machine dying on boot.... - CPU 0 not enough memory for domain -
I am playing with a new machine I just got in and it is dying on boot...
I'm wondering if it is to much machine for Centos to run..
It is a Generic machine using a Tyan Thunder motherboard running (8)
eight dual core AMD 855 cpu's with 128 gig of ram, not 128 meg, but 128
gig of ram. (2) SCSI 146 Seagate Drives. ATI Graphics built onto the board.

In 5100 and 1100 series Inspirons Intel 2915abg cards work MUCH cooler
than the original Broadcoms, don't choke up in hot weather like the
original Dell cards and don't require ndiswrapper. (All of 2 Notebooks
were tested outdoors at 98 deg F ambient. Dropouts occured in both
Centos 4.4 & XP on these dual boot notebooks with the Dell Mini-PCI's,
none with 2915's).

Can't get ipw2200 to work in CentOS 5 on Dell laptop
I've installed ipw2200-firmware-3.0-3.nodist.rf from RPMForge using yum OK.
I've loaded the ipw modules with /sbin/modprobe ipw2200 and then
/sbin/lsmod | grep ipw which gives:
ipw2200 136873 0
ieee80211 33417 1 ipw2200
However, when I run system-config-network I don't see Intel Coporation

CentOS 4 and Intel Wireless 2200BG (ipw2200)
I am going to be setting up an Intel 2200bg card this evening. I was
wondering if anyone is using this (successfully) with CentOS 4. The
directions look straightforward, but please let me know if you had to do
anything interesting/undocumented to make it work. I am also wondering
if people are using the driver provided with the current CentOS 4 kernel
or if people are using the most recent

Problems getting my wireles connection to work
I have an Everex laptop (ick, but it was super cheap) that has an
Atheros wireless NIC in it, but I can't seem to get it to connect to
my wireless in-home LAN. Here's what I've done so far (that isn't
working) - any suggestions?

tinc on fedora core 8
Hello,
I would like to install the latest tinc software on a
fedora 8 Linux box. I tried the rpm for FC3 from
http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/tinc/, and I
got dependency errors complaining that libcrypto.so.4
is needed. I've got openssl rpm package installed which
uses a different versino of libcrypto, and creating symbolic
links won't solve the issue.
Then I found this article

CentOS 7.2 laptop wireless Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 2230 (rev c4)
With CentOS 7.2 a laptop wireless card is recognized in dmesg, but
nonfunctional. Toggling the hardware wifi switch causes the Bluetooth
icon to appear and disappear. The network configuration window shows
the Wireless tab greyed out. Rebooting with the bluetooth enabled
does not help. It appears the appropriate driver is iwlwifi, which is
what works in Fedora and appears to be available and

having trouble booting Xen-3.1 on X86_64 Fedora Core 8 install
Hi:
Any hints/pointers welcome. I am very new to Xen, I have a AMD "AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+" based system on which I am running X86_64 Fedora Core 8. I have installed Xen-3.1 on it, but I can''t get Xen to boot. It seems unable to find the root volume, the kernel panics and reboots immediately so I can''t capture or write down anything and I

Miredo 1.1.5
I found a src.rpm for 1.1.5-1 for fc8 (not rh8!). I was able to rebuild
it on my Centos build system.
The rpms are identified as 1.1.5-1.i386.rpm, no el5 or other
identification was placed in the files. I don't see how to control this
when you rebuild from an existing src.rpm. Interestingly the fc8
designation was lost.
I also rebuild it on my fc10 system. It worked, and the rpms have

Wireless cannot ping gateway after 6.3 CR updates
I'm having a wireless connection issue with an HP laptop and a Zotac
media server after the 6.4 package updates from CR repository. Nothing
changed with wireless config as far as I can tell. Both have been
working fine with previous releases of 6.x.
Oddly, if a cat 5 cable is connected for a few seconds and then
disconnected the wireless works fine and survives a 'service network
