Samba PDC, OpenLDAP, and passwd chat
Hey List,
I'm using Samba 3.0.24 and OpenLDAP 2.3.30 (with the ppolicy and
smbk5pwd overlays).
While testing Samba as a PDC with an OpenLDAP backend, I've hit a snag
on password change. I currently have the following in my smb.conf
related to password changes:
passwd program = /usr/bin/ldappasswd -x -W -S -D
uid=%u,ou=Users,dc=example,dc=com
passwd chat = "*Enter

Samba 3.0.24 handling LDAP responses incorrectly
Hey list,
Recently I've gotten my Samba PDC to successfully use an OpenLDAP
backend, while using the smbk5pwd and ppolicy overlays for OpenLDAP.
However, Samba appears to incorrectly handle responses from LDAP's
ppolicy overlay, even though it very clearly receives them. If I enter
in a password (be it through Ctrl+Alt+Delete or when a password expires
and the user is prompted at logon)

samba and OpenLDAP ppolicy
I am looking for a way to enforce our password policy using our PDC with
OpenLDAP. I have already configured ppolicy, just can not find a way to
make it enforce it on the windows clients. Searches turn up little to go
on. I must be searching for the wrong terms. Anyone have any pointers?

password expire warning for dovecot users in IMAP/POP login
Dear list,
Is it possible to give a notification about password exprire warning to
users authenticated by OpenLDAP when the users login via dovecot using
IMAP or POP? For example, when you ssh to a server and/or run
ldapsearch, you can be warned with password expire warning like below:
# ssh testuser at localhost
testuser at localhost's password:
Your password will expire in 31 minute(s).

Direct printer port access in Wine?
Hi:
I have a Windoze program which uses the printer port for interfacing
(not printing). So far, it has indicated when I run it with Wine that
the printer port is found but the attached hardware is not responding.
I also can't print anything in Wine, but perhaps I can make some
progress with that as I have recently found some documentation on the
subject.
Can programs that access the

Revisiting Samba's interaction with LDAP's ppolicy overlay
Hey folks,
Some months back, I entertained a conversation with Volker Lendecke,
Adam Tauno Williams, and Simo Sorce about getting Samba to play nice
with LDAP's ppolicy overlay. (Thread starts here:
http://www.mail-archive.com/samba@lists.samba.org/msg92134.html and ends
here: http://www.mail-archive.com/samba@lists.samba.org/msg92214.html)
I was wondering if any progress had been made

Re: asterisk-users Digest, Vol 33, Issue 12
I too was curious about this, so I copied the text into Babel Fish, and this is the result:
I miss of the 2/04/2007 to the 11/04/2007. I will answer your message as of my return. For any urgency, to contact Emmanuelle Parache Moga or C?dric Buzay.
If this guy is really going to be out until November these messages will get rather tiresome...

PingTimeout
Hello list,
I use tinc with QOS, and since some weeks I got problem with tunnel
disconnection because the default "Pingtimeout" of 5 sec is reach.
I think it happens because of the QOS shappe the tinc traffic (data
here) to let some BP for VOIP, but whate is very strange is that the
ICMP protocol is not include in the shapping, so tinc would never 'see'
latency on the link,

Help regarding getting password policy response
Hello,
I have enabled ldap password policy in my open ldap server and it locks
out the account after several unsuccessful bind attempts. I am able to
get the password policy response which says "Account locked" by
specifying '-e ppolicy' option in my ldapsearch command.
I am looking for a way to get similar response when I use dovecot so

Tinc and security
Hello,
I just read this document, especially the section about Tinc :
http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/linux_vpn.txt
It's an old one, but i would like to know the state of the Tinc security
level for now.
I don't scared about possible security weakness of Tinc because i only
use it over our internal operator network (MPLS), but maybe one day will
come the need to connect a

QOS Wishes
Hello all,
It would be a great feature if QOS could be implemented in Tinc.
It's not to do any sort of comparison, but with OpenVPN, the traffic can
be shapped.
In the way that tinc works as mesh VPN, the great feature would be to
fix a shapping value on each nodes, known and respected by each others.
(like MPLS does)
As an exemple, you've got 3 nodes A,B and C, you want Tinc flows on A
