London Pub Meetup: Tonight
Hi all,
For those few of you in London and interested in an ad-hoc meetup,
I''m planning on being at the Cheshire Cheese[1] at 6pm local time. I
don''t expect to last long, being painfully jet lagged and all, but
I''ll be there at least long enough for dinner and a pint or two.
Note, also, that I''m giving a talk at GLLUG[2] tomorrow night.

Austin meetup?
Looks like I''ll be in Austin from Tuesday (late) night until Saturday
morning. Any Puppeteers in Austin who want to get together?
I''ve got vague plans to hang out with whurley, but I''d love to meet a
few more people in the community. Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday
night should work fine (although not all three).

Seattle Meetup?
Hi all,
It looks like I''ll be in Seattle on Sunday, September 16th through
Tuesday the 18th, and I''d like to have Puppet Meetup either Sunday or
Monday night.
On Adam''s recommendation, I''ll be staying at the Queen Anne Inn, so
something near there would be best. Hopefully Adam or Blake can do
the actual organization. :)
Any takers?

New feature: Transaction summaries
Hi all,
I was going to open a ticket for this, but I already had most of the
code done, so I decided to just set it up.
Transaction reports can now generate summaries from their metrics.
Here''s a simple example from a script applying two ''exec'' instances:

Sydney Meetup Update (May 31, 2018)
Hi llvm-dev,
Just sending a quick note that our most recent Meetup in Sydney went pretty well! We did:
- Pizza and Chicken for dinner!
- “From 0 to LLVM in 30 minutes” live demo of getting a cloud VM instance, setting it up to build the LLVM toolchain from the Monorepo [0]
- Do a cursory overview of the tools in the llvm, clang, and clang-tools-extra projects.
Feedback we got:

Visit to Melbourne in January
Hi all,
I''ll be in Melbourne, Australia from January 24th until February 2nd,
for LinuxConf Australia and a bit of vacation. James Turnbull is
going to organize a meetup during the trip, so ping James at
james@lovedthanlost.net if you''re going to be in .au and are
interested in joining us.
Cheers,
Luke

ANNOUNCE: Puppet workshop at LISA
Hi all,
I will be running a workshop on Puppet at LISA[1] this year. It will
hopefully be focused more on development than usage, but anyone
interested in Puppet''s ongoing future is welcome.
The workshop will be Sunday, the first day of the conference, and the
workshop cost is $150 and includes lunch. I expect to spend most of the
day working on development ideas for Puppet, but

ANNOUNCE: 0.22.0
Hi all,
I''ve just published the long-awaited new release of Puppet. Yes, I
accidentally skipped 0.21.0; oops.
Important features in this new release are:
- Graphing
Puppet now uses the GRATR[1] library to do all of the internals of
managing relationships between resources. This gives Puppet a lot of
functionality internally, but it also makes it possible to produce

Re: How to conditionally run defines? (and a question about updating... )
OK, too bad. I could work around it of course by adding ''unless'' and
''creates'' clauses on all the individual parts of the define where
appropriate, but I think I''ll just ignore the warnings and overhead for now.
It would be cool, though, if something like the ''unless'', ''onlyif'', etc,
logic was available for all

Switching to Google Groups tomorrow night
Hi all,
Is everyone switched over to the Google lists?
I''m basically ready for the switch, I think, and doing so would be one
more closed loop for me.
I notice we''ve only got a bit over 300 subscribers to the Puppet Users
list, while my madstop list has nearly 600. This is a bit depressing,
but it probably represents a better idea of who''s actually using the

Samba4 reaches the "Susan" stage
Samba4 reached an important milestone tonight, as I installed it for
my wife to use as her file server for all of her important documents,
email, the book she is working on etc.
Those of you who have been around Samba development for a while will
know that my wife tends to be the first test user of major new
versions of Samba, and she volunteered again this time. Susan played a
large part in the

FOSDEM?
Hi all,
A couple of people are trying to convince me to come to FOSDEM in
Belgium at the end of February. I''m a bit hesitant because I''ve been
doing so much travel, but LinuxConf.au was a great experience and
seems to have really helped get exposure to Puppet. There seems to
be a pretty strong European contingent of Puppet users, and it''d be
great to meet

Looking for descriptions of difficult problems
Hi all,
Paul Anderson, a friend of mine who works at the University of
Edinburgh, is looking for complicated problems that are currently
difficult to handle with existing config mgmt tools.
Please read his request below, and if you have any difficult problems
that seem to meet his needs, I''d appreciate it if you would send
descriptions of them to him.
Thanks,
Luke

ANNOUNCE: 0.23.0 release
Hi all,
I''ve finally released 0.23.0 (only two days late!). You can get it
from the usual locations (although the packagers will take a little
while to package it up, I assume):
https://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/InstallationGuide
You can read the full changelog[1], which is pretty long, but here''s

ANNOUNCE: Puppet 0.22.2 (grover)
Hi all,
I''m proud to announce that I seem to have pushed a new release of
Puppet out in record time. This is a minor upgrade, mostly bugfixes
and small features, but there are lots of each. See the changelog[1]
for an idea of what this release provides, but keep in mind that this
changelog is my first real attempt at keeping an up-to-date changelog.
Enjoy!
