Slightly OT: Creative Zen not showing up when plugged in - what to do
I installed the 0.2.5 version of libmtp, ran the hotplug.sh script
(which has a bug in it, but it's only for "old" hotplug support), the
player shows up in lsusb, BUT gnomad2 can't seem to find it.
What am I missing?
Thanks.

Zen arch in 5.0?
Will 5.0 have scheduler, reg alloc etc. bits for explicit
support of AMD's 1st gen Zen (Ryzen, Epyc) arch?
Is it safe to assume that the changes for Zen's 2nd gen
will land prior to the hardware release, once the 1st
gen is added? I think zen2 will arrive next year.

VMWare vs Parallels, and Zen
I've seen several references to running VMWare under CentOS, but
does anybody know how well Parallels runs under CentOS?
On a related note, now that Zen is as mature as it is, are
commercial VMs really much better than Zen?

Ffdshow-20042003 Theora support fixed.
Thought I'd pass this along for Theora users on the Windowzz platform.
The latest alpha build of the ffdshow filter (20041003) on Sourceforge
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow/
Seems to have had theora, broken since the June/July unofficial builds,
fixed. This build also connects nicely to Zen's Ogg splitter and also
decodes Helix Producer encoded Ogg's well. The encoder side

Apparent BIND problem doing RBL lookups for Postfix
My apologies if I'm posting the wrong place, or am asking a common

in knowing what to look at, or what to modify.

Vorbis transcoding for Creative Nomads
Forwarding a conversation with a company that provides a management tool
for transcoding Vorbis files to MP3 when communicating with the Nomad
Jukeboxes from Creative. Good initiative, and probably sounds OK too, but
would be even better with FLAC, so I'll ask about it.

How do I change the default media player from Totem to <anything-else>?
On CentOS 5.1 (and before), the default player for CD and DVD media is
Totem, despite the fact (?) that it doesn't handle a whole bunch of media
very well (i.e., can't play them at all) by default.
Unfortunately, this is not one of the preferred applications controllable
from that applet (it only does browser, email and terminal emulator.
I'd like to change what plays the CDs and

WinXP display resolution under Zen 3.0.3
Is there any way to change the maximum resoluton in the Xen virtual
video driver to be more reasonable? I have a 1680 X 1050 LCD display
running Suse 10.2, but the most resolution I can get with Xen is 12880 X
1024. Vmware server has a modification you can make to the .vmx file to
increase the resolution to 1680 X 1050. Is there such asetting for Xen?

There was a Xapian bug here, which I fixed on master last week and will
be fixed in 1.4.6.

SuSE Winbind "Zen" Question with Samba 3.0.4
OK, I fixed all of my winbind problems (I think), but I'm not sure the
outcome is optimal, so I'm looking for advice and counsel at more of a
philosophical level, rather than a pure technical level.
I would be grateful for comments on the following setup:
::Background::
SuSE 9.0, Samba 3.0.4-5 rpms from ftp.sernet.de (quasi-official SuSE
rpms, as I understand it). The machine is

creative VoIP blaster & *
Ok,
I've googled for 15+ minutes, and have yet to find a usable answer, so I'm
going to annoy everyone and ask here.
I have, in my posession, a creative VoIP blaster. I have installed the
fobbit LKM and I can see the device. Can I use it with asterisk in any
meaningful way, shape, or form? I'd love to be able to buy an IP phone,
ATA, or FXO card, but lack the funds at the moment

Ogg Vorbis in Creative products petition
Hi all dudes.
We're organizing a petition to ask Creative to include Ogg Vorbis
support in one of their next firmware releases of their
digital players. This is very important for two reasons:
1) Creative is a big company. If they include Ogg support in their
digital players, other manufacturers will follow the example.
2) This should improve use experience of this class of products for

SOHO Survey / Creative Asterisk Solutions
I hope the subject isn't too buzzword compliant :)
I'm just curious: What have people done with Asterisk? I'm particularly
interested in DIY projects and things that can be done on a small/home
office (or even hobbiest's) budget. If you have clever hacks or creative
functionality you've implemented, I'd love to hear what a few people have
come up with.
Thanks! -Brian
