SCSI backup error
Hi,
Can someone please help me with this? I have just upgraded from 4.7 to 4.8-STABLE and
this is what I am getting when I try a tape backup. Please CC as I am not in the list. It was
working well before the upgrade (dump -0ua -f - / | gzip -c -9 | dd of=/dev/nsa0).
Thank you,

samba and bin/text modes
Hello samba,
I would like an advice on following:
is there any way how to tell samba what transfer mode to use? I
think I read that samba does only binary and to use text you have to
use something else. We have windows machines using text files on
linux samba server and i need to transfer those files in text mode.
Can anyone help me please?

No audio with slackware for live station
Hello,
hmmmm sweet problem. All I can recommend you is have you tried another player?
I've heard that WinAmp3 has certain problems with .ogg streaming.
No other idea :(.

More on the IAD connection
As a follow-up to my previous post where I stated the IAD would be a
Vina model, after some more prodding to XO, they have told me it will
either be an Adtran TA-600 or a CAC Adit 600. These products are covered
pretty well on the web and I have manuals on both. So, if those
knowledgeable folks had to use one of these to attach to an Asterisk
box, what interface would be best or at least

Interfacing to an IAD
I'm considering switching my incoming phones lines from standard analog
to a T-1 service from XO communications. They propose to bring in an
"IAD" which has 12 lines of voice and 768k of internet bandwidth as part
of a package deal. Since I want to keep the voice traffic in the digital
domain the equipment they're proposing is a "Lucent Digital Vina
Integrator" IAD

Partial deadlock in 4.9p1
I've just had a 4.9p1 system partially deadlock for about 30 minutes
and then spontaneously(?) recover. The "ps" results point at vinum.
I've never seen this before and don't recall anything like this being
mentioned here before.
At the time, I had two find's running in a large NFS mounted
filesystem and was doing a "cvs -d /usr/ncvs -R checkout -P ports"

determinant via Lapack
Hi,
What Lapack routine(s) should I use to calculate the determinant of a
symmetric matrix of real numbers? I would appreciate any guidance on this
issue.
Thanks,
Kosuke

matrix inverse in C
Hi,
I'm writing an R package using the C code i've written. I'm wondering if
anyone knows an easy way to calculate an inverse and cholesky factor of a
matrix using the Fortran/C library of R: and how to call them from C. My
code is based on the Numerical Reciepe code, and I'm trying to use
something that is already in R.
Thanks for your help in advance,
Kosuke

CentOS 3.8 Kernel Update with NVIDIA Video Card
I need some advice. I updated the kernel but when I restarted my
computer I got the following error message:
--
I cannot start the X server (your graphical interface). It is likely
that it is not set up correctly. ... Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel
module!

I've started my computer using the old kernel. I found out that there's
a new nvidia driver so I will also update it.

Kernel panic - em0 culprit?
Hello,
My server is experiencing occasional kernel panics when under moderate
load. I'm attaching a crash dump and the dmesg output. I'm not sure how
to read the kernel backtrace but it looks like the Intel NIC (em0)
caused the problem. Occasionally, I used to get a "em0: watchdog timeout
-- resetting" error message, but I never had a kernel panic. The problem
started last

R_qsort_int_I() error
Hi,
I want to use R_qsort_int_I() in my C function, but getting the
following error. It looks like there is a conflict between Rmath.h,
which I use to generate random numbers, and R_ext/Boolean.h I would
appreciate any help to fix this problem.
gcc -ansi -g -o Gibbs gibbs.c subroutines.o rand.o vector.o -lm -lRmath

[LLVMdev] Assert in LiveInterval update
Andy, Jacob,
I have ported Hexagon MI scheduler to use the new scheduler
infrastructure, but one of my tests triggers an assert in LiveInterval
update. On the surface it does not make much sense to me, so I wonder if
this is something you readily recognize, before I try to prop it open...
The assert is:
lib/CodeGen/LiveInterval.cpp:266: llvm::LiveRange*
