An option to test what will be done by the puppet client?
Hi, I can''t find an option of the puppetd client that can just print what the puppetd client will do on my system (updateing files, installing softwares, etc), but without doing all the things (like a "diff" between the current state of my system and the state defined on the puppet server). Is such option exists ? Regards

vpnc versus Shorewall problem
Hi everybody, I have been using Shorewall for quite a while now but I recently stumbled over a new setup that stopped me cold. I don''t know how to proceed: I have an ordinary GNU/Linux box (2.6.11) connected to a nonpublic network with one interface eth0 which gets an IP through DHCP like 172.17.x.y. Traffic is not routed to the Internet in this subnet. In order to connect to the

very new user having problems
I just loaded CentOS and want to connect to the internet using a radio and wireless internet. I got some numbers from the internet provider. He walked me through some of the changes in the networking area. But it did not work. I have read three books on Unix and I am determined to do this. but I think I need lots of help. Where could I look this up on a windows machine?? when I get

From: Collins Richey > Sounds pretty religious-based to me. > IBM=bad > HP,Sun, RedHat, SCO=good. > OTOH, from some of your comments, Novell=better. Are you really that shallow? IBM is our partner, not our friend. Sun has its interests too, and has 5 different entities of focus, which vary. missed framing/parity errors on serial port communication
I'm using Wine 1.0 on Puppy Linux 3.01 I wrote an application for windows which uses serial communication and I like to use this on linux. Every thing works well, but if I set unsuitable communication parameters (e.g. different baudrates for sender/receiver) wine shows no framing or parity errors. Is there any solution ?

More JSON and XML feature parity for AR and ActiveSupport (patch review)
I''m really glad the JSON changes got in, many thanks to all involved, committers and contributors alike :). But there''s still one feature that''s missing to achieve feature parity between the JSON and XML encoding/conversion. And that is the abililty to say in your controller: @authors = Author.find(:all) render :json => @authors.to_json(:only => :name)

Network interfaces (and deleting them)
I''m in a bit of a pickle and I can''t work out a safe way to do something. I currently have a define called ip that I use to define network interfaces. The built in method didn''t seem to work, so I designed this to write out the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg- ethX file. However, I started thinking about what if I decide to define an eth0:0 for some purpose, and

sym53c8xx parity errors
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 This seems to be an old problem, but I haven't found much about it. SuSE mentions "hwprobe=-pci" but, as far as I know, CentOS doesn't use it. ChanSpy - Should I repatch it ?
With the deafening silence from my previous questions, I feel seriously alone in the desire to have ChanSpy available. I want to be able to perform a "ZapBarge" on an Agents conversation, and ChanSpy was the answer to my prayers. Bug #2379 (http://bugs.digium.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0002379) was closed "bkw918 10-27-04 17:06 Closed pending new changes in cvs-head."

lm function - strange error
I am following a document teaching how to use regression and right at the onset I get an R error. I understand that variables "conc" and "signal" should have the same length but I am using the what R manual suggests to drop the error and it is not cooperating. What gives? The manual says that the default is na.ombit by the way, not that it's addition does anything How

PHP 7.x on CentOS 7 : which solution ?
Hi, As you all know, CentOS 7 is shipping PHP 5.4, which is OK in some situations. Unfortunately, some applications like OwnCloud require a more recent version of PHP. Up until recently, I've been using PHP 5.6 packages from the Webtatic repository. Despite the bad press this third party repo seems to have, it has been working perfectly for me for a few years. Here's the PHP 5.6 packages

Hi All, My family and I are doing well. Thank you all for your prayers. We are using this as an opportunity to rebuild. I didn't think I really needed to but God knows best and we will obey. My family and I will temporarily be in Lafayette, Louisiana for a while but will probably relocate to Houston, TX in the future. We already have my Daughter registered in school here. Lafayette is my

2 more JSON / XML feature parity patches before Rails 2.0
I''d really like to see just 2 more functional changes to the JSON serialization/encoding before we get to Rails 2.0. First, and I think this is really crucial because without it all the efforts to output JSON from ActiveRecord objects would have been half in vain, is to allow us to do this in controllers: @authors = Author.find(:all) render :json => @authors.to_json(:only =>

File configuration difficulty
Hi, I''ve been using puppet to manage a small Linux network fairly successfully for a while now - thanks. I''ve hit a spot of bother in managing some files, though. There are a number of folders in /usr/local that I want to manage efficiently using puppet - for example /usr/local/share/templates. I want to copy the contents of a number of source folders on the puppet fileserver
