On a fresh CentOS 4.3 box, suddenly what should have took usually
around 60 seconds, now it makes me wonder if I can still perform
simple sysadmin tasks, or should I get a long vacantion...

New installation woes
I've just installed CentOS 5.2 for the x86_64 on a SuperMicro X6DA8-G

system and I wind up with these errors....

MySQL 5.5, PHP and other tools still use 5.0 client drivers
I upgraded a web server from CentOS 5.9 to 5.10. The instructions also
indicate that MySQL 5.0 is no longer supported so I followed the
instructions to upgrade to 5.5. Everything seems to be working so I
tried to remove MySQL 5.0 and MySQL 5.1. It seems there are still
dependencies on MySQL 5.0:

I'm trying to update a c4 x86_64 system. This fails because off

The system has MySQL 5 rpms, build on monk.karan.org. I can't
remember/find where I found these packages. The thing is, mysqlclient14

Oracle instantclient on CentOS 4.4 with DBD::Oracle
Does anyone have experience on installing the Oracle instantclient and
DBD::Oracle on CentOS 4.4.
I have been having several issues with getting the RPMs from Oracle's site
working with DBD::Oracle. I can get the oracle instant client to install
without issue. But I cannot compile/install DBD::Oracle using cpan or
cpan2rpm.
I found http://freshrpms.net/docs/oracle/ which has a nosrc rpm

rpmforge, perl-dbd-mysql, yum, priorities, centos, and you
rpmforge has just released a new perl-DBD-mysql for el4 that has an
obsoletes against perl-DBD-MySQL and the protectbase yum plugin doesn't
grok obsoletes. the priorities plugin does. so if you are having issues
with this, install the yum-plugin-priorities first, make sure that the
CentOS-Base repo is priority 1 and the rpmforge repo is priority 2 or
higher (99 is the default).

Missing perl-DBD-Pg security update
Hi,
Any news when we may expect the missing perl-DBD-Pg security update for
CentOS 5 from last week?
https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2009-0479.html
It came out the same day as the poppler security update that CentOS
pushed 2 days later so I'm wondering why the perl-DBD-Pg security update
still hasn't appeared. Is there an issue? Did it just get missed? Should
we wait longer?

Segmentation Fault Asterisk 13.7.0-rc2 (libmysqlclient?)
Hi everyone,
I am getting a segmentation fault (seems to occur randomly) using Asterisk 13.7.0-rc2 with PJProject 2.4.5. It appears to be something that libmysqlclient is complaining about when doing a query in ps_endpoint_id_ips. We are using Asterisk Realtime. This also seems to occur in Asterisk 13.5.0.
Below is a backtrace that might help a little. I have looked through the change log for

I am having trouble installing RMySQL on a clean install of Fedora Core 4 64

like the LD_LIBRARY_PATH is incorrect, but I don't seem to have it quite
right yet.
There are a few mentions of this problem in google, but thus far none of the
"fixes" and fixed my problem. I've tried defining the

Ruby DBD::Proxy
I noticed that some of the ActiveRecord adapters depend on ruby-dbi.
I''ve just started to play with the ruby-dbi database driver DBD::Proxy,
which allows me to connect to other ruby-dbi drivers running on other
operating systems.
What seems more practical, developing a ActiveRecord database adapter
for DBD::Proxy, or would you just target a specific database, and just
depend on

problem with package function and removing rpms
I have a recipe that I''m ensuring that I remove rpms that may be
installed by CentOS/RHEL before I install the MySQL.com rpms.
the recipe and logs are listed below. For testing I have mysql-* rpms
already installed.
Is there a method to force specific order to run the recipe?
What am I doing wrong?
